He's saying that being disconnected because of a technical issue, shouldn't influence how to deal with people that are abusing the current system to gain an unfair advantage.

If you are crashing fix your PC, avoid the cause (if the cause is known and easily avoidable) or wait for a patch that resolves your issue.

Many competitive games penalize you for intentionally quitting, and yes, every single one of those systems also equally penalizes you if the game crashes because there's no way to differentiate a disconnection from a software crash.

Penalizing disconnections will allow for some proper game balancing to happen, and finally resolve the issue of things insta killing you regardless of preparation and for a sensible difficulty curve to be achieved without players needing to periodically leave their in-progress game session.

Disconnecting because of a technical issue isn't an accident, that's a technical issue and you really should get that sorted out rather then trying to get everyone else to play around your technical issue.

Alright. I'll log into PoE, start killing a boss at end-game (level 97 on hc), and my friend accidentally unplugs the router out in the living room while vacuuming. I disconnected. Now my character will stay alive for 10 seconds getting pounded by mobs while I'm not even playing the game.

Very nice solution! No wonder why GGG has not added this yet!
