What's the best class for beginners?
" Back in the days my first char was a 1h + shield marauder and my "build" was so horrible that I almost smashed my keyboard at act 2 merciless. Good old times. ^^ @OP: I REALLY think that it is important to make your own mistakes and learn the mechanics of the game otherwise you will only become one of those fotm meta sheeps following build guides they don't even understand. "Yes, it is perfectly fair. It just sucks ass."

I'm sure this debate is as old as the game.
On the original question, the idea that there is a "best" class for beginners is not very helpful. Scion is definitely a little more complicated as a class, but every class also has more and less complicated builds. Picking a class that looks interesting (for whatever reason), and just messing around with skills and passives, can certainly work as a way to learn the game. But the "no guide" approach is best suited to folks who really like to experiment and have a lot of patience. The guided approach can work well for a lot of folks, unless you are the kind of person who absolutely hates the idea of "doing what someone else tells me to do". Of course, a ton of guys who say that eventually get frustrated and come to the forums to ask people to tell them what to do to fix their broken build. I've never quite understood how that's different, but I guess it is. Anyway, to really learn the game takes study, including reading and probably some videos. If you play randomly without study, you will get frustrated quickly. If you play a guide without study, you may get frustrated a little more slowly, but you'll still get frustrated. Which works better for you is a function of how you prefer to learn. How you study will be a little different, but you still need to put in the study time. If you choose to go with a guide, you should look for a good beginner guide using some of the advice that's already been given. The class and build don't matter nearly as much as the quality of the guide. The solid beginner guides are all designed around classes and builds that are good for beginners - and there are plenty of them.
