Started my favorite Saturday, Toxic rain totems and caustic arrow... mmmmmm like a bow witch! I love Chaos! I think I found my league starter! It's the leather jacket in the ascendancy... I can't resist!

Fun build, Gravepact anoint on amulet is a nice little bonus!
Well after reading the proposed changes to minions and zombies it's not going to be a huge nerd unless they make more in the coming patch notes

Minions

Overall, the diversity of Minion builds as a result of the 3.8.0 minion review has been positive, but there are a few mechanics that are sitting above where we'd like them to be. The following changes have been made:

The weighting of Minion modifiers on Convoking Wands have been lowered, making it harder to roll a great Minion wand.
Minion Movement Speed increases on the passive tree and Necromancer have been lowered.
Both the damage and the buff from the Feeding Frenzy support have had their values lowered, as the support was providing too much damage; Even if a player didn't want Aggressive minions, the support was too powerful not to use.
Raise Zombies had too much damage and life for a small investment. They've been lowered in power slightly in several ways: lower base damage, lower area on their Slam, no life multiplier per gem level and a longer Slam cooldown.
We felt Raise Spectre was too easy to get a third Spectre at gem level 21, especially with Necromancer’s Unnatural Strength passive. The third Spectre is now granted at gem level 25, giving a more challenging threshold for characters to strive for.

I didn't even use a convoking wand!
Montreguls did just fine.
They were too fast, to easy, I agree.
We are not "small" invested in this build, almost every usable strength and life node were taken, I think WoDs zombies will be just fine.
Longer slam cooldown is crap, they took away a jewel and overbuffed to compensate. This will make Minotaur and Uber Elder and whatever heavy hitting new bosses very unfun.
I called raise specter, I thought the +2 from tree would go away, but they have chosen to put specter building in it's own chase, I can agree with that... 3 is fine ;)
Overall WoDs build is safe and may actually be a league starter, if not an all content clearer once again!

And I am soooooo in on RATs!!!! 3 for free? deal me in for toxic rain/caustic arrow! My Pathfinder will steal your soul faster than an Occultist!!! Friday is looking sweeeeet!!

Ya. For sure 0nyX. I was surprised there were so few minion nerfs. Unfortunately, the Zombie was big on their list. Hopefully, the decreased Zombie numbers, which we'll see later today in the patch notes, will still be higher than they were in 3.7. I'm not too worried though. The build was fine prior to 3.8 and I doubt they'd make them worse than they were before.

I concur.

From that info I will indeed be starting with this build and morph it into a baron as the days pass.
Will not be using convoking wands this time around, so, good with that nerf.
(Do wonder if some unique item nerfs <baron> might be coming in the final patch notes though.)

I know one thing for sure.
I will be using the blasphemy/temp chains in a 4 link.
If zombie life & damage nerfed then I will def want every mob in the SLO-MO zone 24/7.
Blasphemy Plus & Increased AOE. Should cover the entire screen nicely IMO.

I have noticed the majority of necro builds ignore temp chains/blasphemy. This league/patch I think it will be more important than ever. As it should counter the zombie life/damage nerf quite nicely.

Hey walkjohn55,

It's funny that the exact stats that were increased or added to Zombies in 3.8 are now being decreased or removed in 3.9. I doubt they'll put Zombies back to the 3.7 version though. So we'll see the numbers tonight. I agree with the movement speed stats. Convoking Wands I'm surprised with but maybe I just had bad RNG luck while rolling my wands. Level 25 seems really high for a 3rd Spectre. I thought 24 would be good. Now you HAVE to have the Necromancer's Unnatural Strength and a wand that gives +2 to minion gems. Though I guess it'd be for a 4th since Death Attunement can be selected.

Overall I was impressed with the small amount of nerfs...but the few nerfs they made hit this build in its core. As long as zombies are equal to (or greater) than 3.7's this build will be fine.

I'm excited to compare tonight's patch notes to 3.7's.
