Sorry I still dont get it, i feel dumb haha

You say some stuff like vagan catarina and such can be sold for 30 c each piece...but you dont know the veiled stats you get until after you unveil it....sorry this must sound really dumb, but I just pick up unveil and npc those items and normally just use it to craft, if you happen to get any beneficial as a stat out of those veiled....

Unveiling the mod allows you to get that mod on your crafting bench. It's a bit of a crapshoot for general veiled items, but people will still pay to pull that slot machine in order to unlock the mods they want (without the painful process of farming them themselves). Hence why items that're still veiled have value.

The various Syndicate members each also have their own unique veiled crafts, which can only be obtained from veiled items that they drop. If you have advanced mod descriptions turned on in your game options (which you should!), you can press Alt (or whatever key you've bound it to) to see if your item is one of them. If it's still veiled, the still veiled mod will say (taking an Elreon drop as an example) "Elreon's Veiled" (for prefixes) or "of Elreon's Veil" (for suffixes) - compared to just regular veiled items that'd say "Veiled" or "Of the Veil" instead. You can see the list of mods unique to each master here - https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Veiled_mod#Syndicate_exclusive_mods

Most importantly, you can also BUY master-specific veiled items. Just go to the trade site and type in 'Veil' in the Stat Filters box - you'll see it's possible to specify you're looking for not just a normal prefix ('Veiled') or suffix ('Of the Veil') item, but also any of the names of the master-specific ones ('Elreon's Veiled' or 'Of Elreon's Veil')*. For instance, here's a search for items that specifically have the veiled mods of two of the syndicate masters (one a prefix, the other a suffix) - https://www.pathofexile.com/trade/search/Standard/5n2e5MoCa

Mouse over the veiled mods in those search results and you'll see the site telling you (next to the mod tier to the right of the item) whose veiled mod it is. Just buy said item, unveil it (and hope you get lucky, as you're not guaranteed to get the master-specific mod) and then vendor it afterwards.

Rinse and repeat, over and over and over again, until you've filled up your crafting bench. Or don't, since as this post argues, it's not worth it for most players considering how either painful and/or expensive it is.

*: Note that I used Elreon for both the prefix and suffix mod there just for consistency - they each have only one unique affix (in Elreon's case it's a prefix aka 'Elreon's Veiled').

Very detailed, but I feel like im missing the basics of this before going into your advanced stuff haha...

I just have 2 questions,

1, i went on poe.trade but all I can find ( to search on veil) is the little check box on the bottum, where you can either search yes/no/either on veiled items

2. All I need to know is lets say I find an unveiled item from any betrayal boss, if I then unveil it at the npc, will it then be useless to sell right? As the people who are buying these mods want to unveil it themselves?

Very interesting and thank you OP for posting this, I hadn't considered that veiled items were that sought after, (I would have guessed that they'd sell for maybe 1c each) and I was not aware there was an easy way to distinguish between master veiled items and regular ones. So Vagan and Catarina mods are more valuable, what others should I look out for? Even if they only sell slightly higher than default veiled items it'd still be good to know. I will definitely selling these next leauge, I hardly even used the veiled crafting options I got anyway.
As silly as it sounds, losing 15 exalts almost feels better than paying overpriced fees from greedy crafting services.

Check out my LA build: 1782214
Or be my dumbass, multicraft an item, add all the mods except hits cannot be evaded, which was only 33% completed.

1) The 'Stat Filters' box is the one on the right - where you type in to look for specific mods. This isn't an advanced element of the veiled system - using that box is essential for effective trading in general.

2) If it's also an otherwise bad item, then yes it likely won't have any trade value anymore.

Elreon (-# to Total Mana Cost of Skills), Hillock (#% increased Attributes), It That Fled (Gain #% of Non-Chaos Damage as extra Chaos Damage) and Rin (#% chance to Avoid being Frozen/Cannot be Frozen) should all also sell for something more, though how much you'll have to check on the trade site at that time. They all have 4 levels, and crafters want to rush level 4 as soon as possible.

Btw, if you do Catarina, be sure NOT to unveil Cinderswallow Urn - it sells for WAY more veiled.

Ahh I see whats the problem now lol...

I use www.poe.trade to use trading. You use something different I feel even though its called the same, click my link youll see the difference. Unsure if poe.trade is worse or better, cuz i like it alot lol. But typing veil into the mod section just comes up with blank so you cant search on that....

Ah yes. I used to use poe.trade (as did everyone lol), but moved on from it awhile ago. I mostly use the official trade site nowadays (which you can get to by just clicking 'Search Items' under the 'Trade' button in the banner above). It's eclipsed poe.trade for most things (especially bulk purchases, which you can get to using 'Bulk Item Exchange' just below 'Search Items') some time ago, imo.

So wait, if I put an item in to be unveiled, can I take it out again without choosing an option to not spoil its trade value? I've never tried since I've always just done it.

You can remove it before you click the button. After you've clicked, you gotta choose. No backsies! ;)
