What? Did you ever play cyclone? You just need enough moving speed, and you can ignore knock back effect.

"Enough moving speed"

Facepalm.
Please tell me there is a knock back downside for cyclone.

Well, this is the solution for other melee skills as well than, no?

I play Cyclone this league and I used Lion's Roar without much problems. I switched it for utility flask eventually since I did not need that damage boost. Lion's Roar was not issue on single target but it could be a bit annoying during map clearing when you could KB rare monster out of your Cyclone range.

I think Lion's Roar's KB element is relic of the past. It could be removed because I do not believe it was ever meant to be a downside of the flask (it was "positive" defense element but noone is relying on KB in 2019).
I'd love to be able to throw an orb of alteration at it to switch it between "knockback" and "reverse knockback". Similar to how Blink/Mirror arrow work.
May your maps be bountiful, exile
The reason we should get 25% more melee physical damage without a downside is that melee still isn’t very good other than cyclone. But that shouldn’t depend on a flask.

Tbh the knockback has never bothered me - just get bosses against a wall and everything else dies fast anyway.
We're all in this leaky boat together, people.

I would rather Melee made good enough to not need Lion's Roar than for Lion's Roar to be adjusted to suit how bad melee is.
Just add damage in relation to distance, like Gorundslam. It would make melee feel more close combat oriented without compromising too much on the long range clear. Same way Point Blank makes bow actually feel "melee".

Agreed. But it does sometimes make the conversation about why melee-focused items should have a downside a bit silly.

Well way back a long damn time ago, literally all unique items had a downside you had to plan around so that they couldn't just be "equip this for godlike power" items. Talking about items like Bringer of Rain and Abyssus, which were very powerful offensive helms with very clear downsides.

Then we entered the modern era of power creep where items were just allowed to be broken, and balanced only by how rare they are and/or hard to obtain. So Lion's Roar mostly has this downside because it got grandfathered in, and I honestly don't see this changing because the knockback is an iconic part of the flask.

It would be far more realistic to hope/ask for a new flask on the power level of Dying Sun, maybe only droppable from Shaper or Uber Elder or Aul, which adds unconditional badassery to melee skills during flask effect.
