Skill cant be used
I have linked skills Immortal Call (IC) - cast on damage taken(CODT), which also has some other skills in the path Blood Rage (BR). Last night they stopped working and display Skill cant be used when you hover over it.
initially I couldnt see any issue, but then noticed the CODT had max level 60 support. Removing CODT from the linked path restores the main skills for use. However, the CODT has now leveled and can support lvl 62 or lower skills, but it still wont work. IC is lvl 52 and BR is lvl 62 so within the limit. Even if I remove BR it still wont permit IC to be used. What else am I overlooking? Nothing else seems apparent - all stats are much greater than needed requirements. This is my first hero a lvl 73 (Caustic Arrow) Trickster. Zharqs Last edited by Feldspa#0711 on Jul 16, 2019, 7:37:48 PM Last bumped on Aug 29, 2019, 2:11:11 AM

That's because CWDT is a trigger gem. Trigger skills and skills linked to trigger supports can't be used directly, thus it tells you that it can't be used. You just misunderstood how it works.

Previously - ok I can understand that for IC, but I have had all three gems in that helmet for some time, and have until last night been able to cast BR as required, and IC was triggering by CWDT.
Suddenly I can no longer trigger BR. |

However, based on your comment, I have moved BR to another slot and it is now all functioning... (as is IC triggering) but its just odd that it was previously working in that helmet.

Cast When Damage Taken can only support active skills that have level requirements based upon it's own. A level 2 CWDT has a level requirement of 40 and can only support skills that have required character levels of 40 or below. If you link a level 12 Purifying Flame which has a required level of 40 to a level 2 CDWT then CDWT can trigger it and it will show as "Skill can't be used" in the skill bar. If you link a level 13 Purifying Flame which has a required level of 44 to a level 2 CDWT then CDWT can't trigger it, but you can use the skill from your skill bar.
This allows you to make use of a socket for a skill you want to manually activate while still gaining benefits of other linked gems, i.e.: L2 CDWT - L11 Steelskin - L20 Increased Duration - L20 Enduring Warcry. In this setup Enduring Warcry can't be triggered by CDWT but can be manually used and still gains the benefit of Increased Duration. Last edited by MasterZoen#4510 on Aug 17, 2019, 11:59:13 AM

" Enduring Cry cannot be triggered via CWDT (and other trigger gems) even if it would match the level requirement. (Since 2.0 Enduring Cry is no longer a spell, it has been reclassified as a "war cry" which cannot be triggered at all) Last edited by tomay#5509 on Aug 18, 2019, 1:05:46 PM

" Yes, I suppose that I should have used a skill other than Enduring Cry, but it was the first one that came to mind. I suppose we could just say "L20 Molten Shell" instead. |
