How would you redesign torment?

Torment right now is dogshit obviously so how would you redesign it :P

- Lesser Tormented spirit of X

Encountering a Tormented spirit will cause the spirit to remain in place completely invulnerable, This spirit will than cause 12 chains to attach to nearby targets in an area radius targeting unique / rare mobs at rarity if a boss is nearby it will be selected first.

When a mob is ''chained'' to that spirit it will inherit it's effects and increase it's IIQ by X amount

When all chained mobs are dead the spirit will kill itself dropping additional loot via whatever spirit it was.

Chain targets increased by tiers

12: Lesser Tormented spirit Chain radius: Small
14: Violent Tormented Spirit Chain radius: Average
16: Brutal Tormented Spirit Chain radius: Large
20: Vaal Tormented Spirit Charge radius: Global

In order for the spirit to be active simply click on it if you do not wish to participate just leave it alone and it will die on it's own still dropping loot in a much lesser fashion.

I'd make them "posses" the player and give bonuses, with some drawbacks as well.

As for the topic, Torment doesn't need redesigning. The idea is fine as is, it just needs a much better pathfinding and AI, and they should only spawn when rares or uniques are close. Something minion builds need too, so focusing on fixing that could have ancillary benefits.

When it comes to new stuff, what GGG could do is just add more stuff to previous game systems - new Tormented Spirits, new Nemesis mods, new Bloodlines mods, etc. etc. Of course, said new stuff should be actually interesting to encounter.

Simple, I would remove it. Torment is dogshit and shouldn't even be in the game anymore. Replace it with Harbingers. If it must stay in the game, they need to speed up the possessing of yellow mobs by 100000000%
Give them like 100x more health, make them not go away on a timer, make them chase down the nearest rare or unique monster no matter how far it is, make them not die at 0 health, and make the iiq and iir increase of the possessed monster proportional to the amount of damage dealt to the spirit before possession. 50% iiq and iir at no damage, 1000% at 0% health left.

Simple solution imo.
Trying to force one of these daft wankers is the most hilarious thing in poe. They could be sitting 30 radius away from a rare mob and somehow the AI manages to run the other way.
