Poe 4.0 should be a whole new game (of different perspective) or its game over for this one GGG

Grim dawn was a better game than PoE, in my opinion. Highly recommend for anyone.

But without leagues, once you finished grim dawn, or any other game in the same vein, replayability dwindles into nothing eventually.

GGG has a lot of leeway being so well established, but i agree with the gist. This game needs some serous reworking. Ironically, the very thing that gave PoE the longevity required to make it this long is the same thing that will prevent it from being future proofed - the devs cant stop making leagues to rebalance and fix the core game. All they will be able to do is keep stacking things on top of the crumbling foundations until it all comes down.

Diablo 4 on the other hand...

Spoiler
PoE needs new content, or spin, badly. Engine and Character Models, with performance issues are a real problem.

If D4 is basically D3 Part Deux, not a chance. D3 didn't kill POE (and no, POE didn't kill D3 either...>ROS killed D3 for me) so there is no reason to think that D4 would unless it goes a completely different direction than D3.

In order for D4 to kill POE, it would need to go the D2 route and even then I doubt it. The reason is simple; this is the D2 replacement. People came here to get their D2 fix. D3 never filled that niche.

The only thing that is going to kill POE is internal to GGG or Tencent at this point IMO.
Thanks for all the fish!

I never said kill, but if PoE loses...let's say half of their playerbase, significant changes would most likely have to be made to staffing and development times (unless Tencent doesn't care about player count dropoffs)

To be clear nothing & no one is putting PoE into the ether but TencentGGG.

Fair enough. I took "lose" to mean the game fails and dies.

I personally have mixed opinions about the player base decreasing by half. A big part of me thinks a large proportion of the last "half" that has came has tried to push POE away from the roots that I enjoyed so much. No offense to everyone else but I'm selfish. I want some of the old facets of POE back.

I do too, but it aint happening. A game creates it's community, you either stale or go further. Going back means certain death. The PoE of 2012 would of had an entirely different player base if it stuck to it's premise. I am absolutely certain that it would still be the success that it is today, but expecting current PoE to go back is a wishful thinking.

4.0 need to keep the spirit of the game while introducing massive rework, simply adding more content wont do.

ROS killed D3 for me

I missed this the other times I looked at the thread. I assume you didn't play RoS right off the bat. It was definitely a big improvement. Then 2.1 came, added grifts, buffed sets, and increased all the drop rates. That's when it got bad.
Need a new signature, cuz name change. I dunno though. I guess this seems fine. Yeah, this is good.

OS killed D3 for me

Gotta agree here, Vanilla D3 was still worse than tuberculosis but it made me feel like i accomplished things. Then RoS came...and soon the Pro-troglodyte dumbing down followed.

If you would tell "Wolcen" it would be understandable, as this game looks like fun concept that also looks good. But Last Epoch is fukin travesty.

Each 3 months game got new update that changes and add new mechanics to the game. Look at PoE during patch v2.0 and then look at PoE now. If you are not capable of spotting significant increase in quality of graphics and overall amount of mechanics, than do something positive for us and just leave.
