Einhar's past = Agnar?

I've been getting scarabs from Legion, and I've noticed they contain some very interesting snippets of lore. I can't make much sense of all of the ones I've gotten, but a couple stand out for me:

Rusted Bestiary Scarab:

"
Feuding Ezomytes slaughtered your kin, young Agnar, but we pulled you
from the flames. The Order of the Djinn is your clan now.

Gilded Bestiary Scarab:

"
The Order was your clan in life, Agnar, Beastmaster, but the First Ones call back their favoured son. The gift of their Visions will pass to another.

There's a fair amount of information there: Agnar was an Ezomyte who was at least a child when feuding broke out between the Ezomyte clans. He was rescued and adopted by the Djinn, and raised as a member of the Order.

At an undisclosed later stage, for an undisclosed reason, Agnar was "called back" into service of the First Ones. He was already a Beastmaster at that stage. The reason for this is unclear, but evidence suggests that Agnar had died and was later brought back in some way.

Grigor in Act 3 points out quite eloquently the fact that the once-proud Ezomyte civilisation has been in ruins for hundreds of years, and only a few holdout colonies and wandering Ezomytes remain. That means Agnar must have been rescued at some point prior to the Cataclysm, which was hundreds of years ago, because the Ezomyte clans were feuding; there were still enough of them to *be* feuding.

So it seems Agnar spent his entire life in service of the Maraketh Order of the Djinn, his accent and traditions gradually influenced by those around him, and eventually died at some point.

The First Ones "called Agnar back", and this reminds me of other cases of the dead being returned in some way. There are quite a few examples of this, the most prominant being Shavronne, Doedre and Maligaro. More recently Piety was also returned. In every case the returned was given some task to accomplish by whichever god brought them back, based heavily around whatever they did in life and where their talents lay.

Agnar's role during his time with the Djinn was Beastmaster, thus he was revived to be a Beastmaster, presumably by the First Ones. That could be the point at which he recieved his new name: Einhar.

Einhar says that "Einhar" means "one who hunts alone"; thus it cannot be his birth name. However the name "Einhar" seems to also be a reference to "Einherjar", which according to Wikipedia:

"
In Norse mythology, the einherjar (Old Norse literally "army of one", "those who fight alone") are those who have died in battle and are brought to Valhalla by valkyries. In Valhalla, the einherjar eat their fill of the nightly-resurrecting beast Sæhrímnir, and valkyries bring them mead (which comes from the udder of the goat Heiðrún). The einherjar prepare daily for the events of Ragnarök, when they will advance for an immense battle at the field of Vígríðr.

That sounds like Einhar :)

The Einherjar were essentially the souls of proud Norse warriors who died in battle, and were recruited by Valkyries to spend their afterlife in training for the eventual battle of Ragnarok - the end times. This matches with Einhar's beliefs that the end times are coming and that the First Ones will soon return.

So, two little snippets of lore and Einhar's past (which he is usually very cagey about, his business no-one else's) seems to be pretty much exposed and laid bare. It seems pretty clear to me: Einhar is Agnar. It also seems pretty clear that his outlandish claims about the First Ones returning and the end-times are also most probably true.

But what do you think? And are there any other bits of evidence, in the game or otherwise, that support or disprove this?

That's awesome, do you think what Eihnar is saying about "preparing for the end" has something to do with this? The reason the first ones called him?

Hopefully never, that defeats the purpose of a game having lore. Go read a book if you want to be spoon fed a story.
Need a new signature, cuz name change. I dunno though. I guess this seems fine. Yeah, this is good.

Yes. Einhar was brought back because of his talent and skill as a beastmaster, but it remains unclear as to how how his abilities tie into preparations for the end. It's a job the First Ones brought him back to do, because he demonstrated significant aptitude in life, but it's impossible to know how much information they chose to share with him beyond what was necessary for the task at hand.

All Einhar will really tell us on this subject is that the First Ones will return, and when they do we need to be ready. But why would Einhar be so apprehensive about the return of his "gods"? He doesn't mention other gods will battle in an all-out war. He seems to expect some kind of conventional war, where weapons, shelter and food are needed, and that the world will end.

So I believe this ties into the scarab quotes too: Agnar was rescued by the Djinn during a feud between the Ezomyte clans. In other words, there exists a great divide within their culture, and he was born right in the heart of it, and became the warrior he is because of it. Estranged from his own people, he likely never took a side in the conflict, and worshipped all the First Ones equally.

Nowadays there aren't many Ezomytes left. They're close to extinction. Even then, the old rivalries may persist into the present day. Yet they are unable to unify, and segragate themselves into small communities or choose to wander the world alone. The Ezomytes may die-out completely within the next century or two. That would certainly qualify as a thing the First Ones might refer to as "the end".

When the First Ones return, it will either bring the end of the Ezomytes, or it will bring their salvation. When the people choose to fully align behind their own chosen First One, brutal war could be stirred-up. Einhar alone could win that war, by capturing enough beasts to prepare an almighty feast at the Great Grove where Ezomytes from all over the world, drawn by the return of the First Ones, could eat as one united family, putting an end to the feuding and giving the Ezomytes a chance to prosper again.

But if such unification does not take place, or is not successful, such a gathering of rival Ezomytes in one place can only mean one thing: a battle to the end.

There's certainly a big enough concept in there for GGG to wrap an entire league around if they wanted to. Ragnarok League has a nice ring to it.

If that ever happens, it would be on the Wiki. The Wiki is community-edited; if someone was willing to put in the considerable amount of work needed, they're free to do so. There are already a number of articles that are very heavily lore-based.

They don't need to. The community's already done it - https://drive.google.com/file/d/1LBheURlklTg-oXC9SPGt9HNpsMV3grdk/view

The wiki is nice and all, but the lore compilation is way better - https://drive.google.com/file/d/1LBheURlklTg-oXC9SPGt9HNpsMV3grdk/view
