MTX Applies on Effect

Hi,

I hope everything is well over there in NZ with you and the team. Reason I'm writing: A long time ago, I made a suggestion that I haven't seen come into fruition... and I wanted to broach it again:

MTX Applies on Effect


1. So let's say you gain Onslaught or Adrenaline (or Rampage or Unholy Might or... etc.)

2. When this happens, your MTX applies.

2a. The way you do this is explained in the link, but I will recap:
- List the possibilities for "On Effect" "MTX transformations" on Drop Bar 1 (eg, Default, Onslaught, Rampage, Unholy Might, Elemental Conflux, Elemental Overload, Vaal Haste, Adrenaline, etc...).
- Allow Players to save MTX configurations to Drop Bar 2.
- Select on Drop Bar 1 a possibility; select via Drop Bar 2 an MTX setup/config.


I know it seems like a mouthful, but what it really boils down to is this:

When your character gets an effect (eg, Unholy Might), you want your character not only to FEEL more powerful or different... but to LOOK more powerful or different.

And you want to be able to customize it with the sweet MTXes you've purchased.

Anyway, thanks for reading! Let's try to get this into the game and see this vision actualized!

OK, so imagine this:

You click "on Arcane Surge".
You click "Dragon Fireball Effect" for your Fireballs.
You change your costume to Celestial MTXes.

OK.

So you're playing your character, all hunky dory, blasting guys with your Fireballs. Everything is good, you're doing your thing...

... then suddenly "Arcane Surge" is triggered!

BOOM! Your fireballs turn into DRAGONS!
Your character turns all shiny and purple!

You confidently speed up your monster-clearing, knowing you're leet (because you look it :P).

How great is this?

This is a very cool idea. But I get the feeling it's a lot easier said than done, as with much of PoE.

If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

even if you get some minor effects on buffs it will not outshine the effect bloat masters had attached when they got reworked.

i would even bet it will not be seen in any battle except it applies headhunter like abominations to charsize etc

i can't see shit in battles up to a point that mtx additionally blur the animations and make the fights more difficult cause you can't see telegraphed attacks.

good examples are the effects master battles have now after they got reworked.

yep. basically that's how it is. mtx are counterproductive for your overview, your framerate, all players loading times in towns.

they,did the right thing by making mtx expensive so not everybody ran around like a purple christmas tree but then started giving mtx away as teasers.

that logic totally escaped me and i dread the moment i have to login into towns. challenge rewards should enable the purchase of certain mtx for half price. not more.
