How does Bear Trap scale?

Problem with using multiple bear traps is that you dont get more maximum number of traps. So you can with passives from skilltree have a maximum of 4 traps up at the same time. This for me makes the full on traps character bad.

I havent tried to use for instance firetrap and bear trap at the same time. So i dont know if you can have 4bear trap and 4 fire trap at the same time. But limit to Bear traps alone makes full trap build unviable, and thats a shame ;(
