Playing on laptops.
|
So like many people my first play of POE was on the test weekend. The problem for me was that i work every weekend. So i checked the system requirements to see if i could sneek in a few hours at work. I was pleased to find that POE was intended to play on everyday laptops.
When i played i did love the game but i can say that my experience was slightly diminished by the fact i was playing on laptop. Now i know that for most people gaming laptops are expensive. You can get a decent laptop no problem for money but to get one with dedicated graphics tends to rocket the price. So is anyone else running a laptop here? and how does it run i can say it was bordering on playability for me. In open spaces with no rain it was still laggy but playable. By the time i got to the forest it was too much. Will there be anymore graphical optimizations as well. Some dev input would also be great. Hp G56 Pentium duel core 2.60GHz 4 gig ram. |

I played on laptop and even on lowest settings and window mode it was laggy. My laptop spec is a bit worse than yours and to be honest I thought I wouldn't be able to run the game at all.
I was in for a pleasant surprise :) The wait is over. Last edited by Shirotashi#1906 on Apr 4, 2012, 1:29:37 AM

I played over the weekend on my crappy school laptop (I'm talking Intel HD Graphics crappy here)and I was able to squeeze some pretty decent performance out of it.
Did you try turning down shadows to either the lowest setting or off? I found that increased my fps from around 10-25 to about 20-45. Which for me is more than acceptable. |

It was a bit choppy at first but then i went in the video options and lower everything.

Based on open beta weekend, my laptop(6770m, 6gb ram and 2410 i5 on highest possible settings. Plays Deus Ex on highest for example without any lags, anywhere), was a little patchy sometimes, and fonts on 1366*768, were too small to actually read anything. So of course it need some optimization, but in terms of comparing, it is not the worst there is, somewhere in the middle, and with all the critic, graphic is really good and nice, everything is changeable in options, so experience overall is great.

I played on laptop too. Usually I have low frame-rate on my intel graphics.
Best "fluid" frame-rate I have in small areas like caves and prison; Poor frame-rate I have on big open spaces; Very poor frame-rate I have in act 1 camp; It could be nice if there were graphic options to lower texture details, model details for better performance on laptops. |

for decent experiences on laptop gaming for poe, u will need an intel i3/i5/i7 (at least an i3), and also 4 gb ram.
integrated graphics card or dedicated graphics card, i think it doesn't matter much... most important is the cpu and ram... 34pre98qua

Lower your graphic settings (especially shadows). You should see a significant fps boost. I play on a laptop, and it plays just fine.
Intel i5 processor 8gb Ram HD Radeon 6650m I consistently get 40+ fps at high settings. IGN: Sonalia, Arkimond Last edited by Tommerbob#5063 on Apr 4, 2012, 3:06:57 AM

" Hmm... Of course dedicated GPU is major performance boost. I am not sure it is just so easy to ignore, and concentrate on CPU/RAM IGN: Infernalle
