What is Nyctas lantern meant to be used for?

My only guess would be something like EK with the Hrimsorrow unique

Just found one of these. Don't think it would be good even for EK. Hope somebody didn't waste one of the $1000 uniques on this junk.

Interestingly enough, I threw one of these on my scion, with the Hrimsorrow gloves, and a level 12 EK gem that I had laying around. The damage output, while nowhere near stellar, was pretty solid, even for A3 Merciless. Considering the levels (10) of the support gems, I wouldn't expect this item to be very strong in the end game anyway. The problem I am seeing is that it would require a very specific setup, like many uniques, but it's not going to be very useful in endgame, due to being scaled out. Even as a leveling piece, it's kind of "meh", just because there's nothing comparable at lower or higher levels to work from, or into.

This item still is a mystery.
Its just very weird stat wise with no clear purpose ,why have life on hit (and not like Cybills Paw that applies to spells) when you have to use spells with it.Why did it have to be a mace so that cant use Blackgleam quiver with it,if the idea was converting all damage to fire.

Best idea was from someone who used it with Bear Trap ,Chance To IGnite and Fire Pen and hopped that it would cause a massive burn to targets.
