Advice for obtaining currency during league start.

"
Find the flavor of the league builds, usually there are several and craft the items that make the build great by buying the bases for usually cheap. Just know what to craft each league and early is what makes the most profit until everyone else starts doing it then you need to up your game to higher end crafts.

It is hard to get the flavor early enough to capitalize for me. Do you have any ideas on the expected flavor? What do you think about elder 1-handed weapons with "%chance to block per endurance charge and %chance to gain an endurance charge when you block" and ideally with "increased %physical while dual wielding". Given the changes to gladiator dual/wield block builds might be meta? Or I guess a Jagged/Serrated/Shuddering on an elder melee weapon. My guess though is that is going to be an expensive craft to pull off this league.

I hug my dog and it poops out chaos

My special Kiwi Chow gets Bob (my pet kiwi) to digest it just like Nibbler and poop out dark matter which is the ultimate energy source. Too bad it's so damn heavy.

On the flip side my Blood Worm pet produces very high quality fertilizer so I can grow Tomacco.

Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration.

It's funny that the best way to make currency in the game is by not playing the game and playing trade simulator instead. And some people will say that this would only happen if we had easy trading.
I don't even know how people can endure and have fun by doing all this flipping all day, considering how awful trading is lol.
Unless they use some kind of 3rd party programs to reduce how annoying it is.

1: Trade Macro (most important thing, really should be part of the game).
2: Mecrucy Trade (lets sellers send custom responses to buyers in one button press).

Those are the 2 main ones outside of the trade-website (far more accurate then PoE-trade in terms of what is sold and what is available), PoE-builds, PoE-Antiquary (useful for viewing the prices of currency or uniques across their entire existence), and PoE Ninja (antiquary but for current league, also has build-related stuff and helm-enchant values).

The final thing is having a few premium tabs to set up a 1 alch, 1 chaos, and 1 chisel buyout tab to dump maps or actually good rares into for people who are leveling their characters.
I just pick up stuff off the ground and sell it. No currency flipping, no crafting, just found items.

Thanks for the tip!

Yeah the trade macro and one button responses really made dealing with trade like 50% better as a seller. I will have to try out poe-antiquary as I have never used it.

As for the tabs in the start of the league I have a 1-alch,1c, 2c, 3c, 4c, and a single tab where I manually set prices. I drop the 1-alch tab when I am decked out enough for maps. I drop the 1-c tab after 1 week. If something doesnt sell in the 1-alch/1c tab after 3 hr early in league I just vendor it.

One thing I forgot to mention: Antiquary is used only for the PAST league prices. Don't expect uniques or currencies to go for the same price during a new league. It's useful for seeing the general value of a unique and how it progresses, but GGG can and will sometimes do unique-rarity changes that can DRASTICALLY change a unique item's value. (For example, Soulwrest PEAKED in Delve at 10 chaos, hovering at around half that for much of the league before EE and other content-creators made videos on it. In Betrayal it had a 180 chaos peak, and stayed there for around a week at the start of the league, before dropping to a 10-ish chaos unique at the lowest).

I mostly use it to gauge the general price of a build that might use or require some uniques to start out the league, or at least to push into late-yellow/early-red maps. It helps determine if a build is a good league starter. I also use it to gauge if an item is gaining popularity over time, which indicates if I keep it if I find it.

4) Make a build that has the sole focus of killing Normal Atziri and farm her the moment I step out of A10 and do the final ascend. I figure Atziiri's drops will all be more valuable this league. First, the mortal fragments will be the key to getting Atziri's Disfavour which I think will be one of the best uniques this league. Second, Doriyani's catalyst is always extremely valuable during league start. It drops in value fast though so if I can't reliably take down Atziri by the end of 10 hours I am not sure if it is worth. This option seems the most fun of the ones I've come up with cause I like the Atziri fight and undergeared/underleveled it is actually tense.

You might be onto something here my friend! Even with the nerf to bleed on hit chance on Atziri's Disfavour, it's going to be incredible. Only two cents I have to add:

At the start of league (first week, week and half) I pick up ALL R-G-B chromatic recipe drops. You can hit some incredible margins on day 1 up till about week 1.5ish (1c = 5-8 chroms). Day 2 of every league chroms will revert back to the ratio the last league ended, it's very strange. Check out poe.ninja and you'll see this trend. It's not going to be mega cash but it's a guaranteed 1.5ex that requires no change to your overall strategy.

If all you care about is currency then sit in hideout and flip items/currency all day long.

If you want to play the game and make the most currency in the process start practise fast Act 1-10 completion and practise atlas progression. Be among the first at doing red maps and you can sell maps for obscene amount of currency until the others catch up. Buy all the sulphite scarabs on the way to get your delve to 300ish asap for massive map returns. At that point you have enough currency to buy gear to do uber elder farming. If you are among the first at doing that you are set.

:D Sounds easy enough? *grin*

Or you can skip all that and just enjoy the game for what it is. After waaay too many leagues on the currency race you eventually learn to appreciate the lack of time pressure and only compete vs yourself. Heck you might even find SSF drawing your attention :) Relaxed gamer = happy gamer. At least that's my conclusion.

Specialize like real life. Do orthopedic surgeons or general practitioners make more? So like pick a ring type or a certain jewel properties and cue it up and monopolize it. Another way is just flip currency but talk about tedium...You'll get trades every minute for margins for 5c to 30c if you deal like 50 swaps. Better have your script ready so you're not typing t4t so much.

"play" is last thing you should be doing. Totally unprofitable. Trust me on this. I SSF to once to 98 and "made" 5ex. When I trade I make 200 ex first couple weeks.
