Update on Cross-Play, GGG says it's Sony.

Alright I didn't mind the subtle shitting on Playstation. But that is pure ignorance if you believe Sony's chief executive said that, or that Sony is falling behind. Xbox doesn't even have it's own firmware, it's a modded Windows 10 that performs horribly as a console OS. Since you want to blatantly talk bad about PS, hey Xbox where's your snow (Der Riese), and streaming, and M&KB support, properly loading home menus, any original console exclusives (that's not the total bullshit Gears and Halo have become.) motion controls/touchpad, or VR. Because I can tell you, they're either far in the future of it's release or non existent. Oh, but Xbox can play old games that I would have to plug my PS3 in to play. And what!?!? I can pay over 100$ for a special controller it wouldn't have cost any more to release stock with the console, geez Xbox is so awesome.
Need a new signature, cuz name change. I dunno though. I guess this seems fine. Yeah, this is good.

Everybody has their own opinions about which console is better, but that is not what this was meant to be about. Even if we can't get full cross-play, just having the tradeboards linked would be beneficial to everyone involved. And that is what I had intended to help push along. They're not wrong. The only way to deal with sony is for customers to pressure them they are a stubborn company. You would think they would have learned by now but corporations are idiotic

I fully believe that if tomorrow, Sony said fine to cross-play, then GGG would immediately become the roadblock. We might get told that it will take time, or that it will happen when the PS Community has matured enough - or more typically, they might say nothing until Chris Wilson delivers another sermon. But at best it would get put into a rather long queue with all the other stuff that is currently missing on Console.
So Chris Wilson hinting that Sony is the roadblock seems more of a dodge than an answer to me - particularly when he is in a position to know GGG's readiness to follow through on any changes at Sony. Formerly posted under AnExile_onthePath

Sony is the uncontended winner of this console generation so of course they would be a bit reserved about cross platform play, since they have the most to lose. The thing is though, next generation will be releasing relatively soon and consumers remember crap like this. I wouldn't be surprised if they do a complete 180 on cross platform relatively soon to remedy this. At the very least, PS5 will have much wider cross platform support. That's the only smart thing to do business wise after the shitstorm they've caused lately by being so against it. Most of my friends play PoE on PC so I'd love to play with them, but we'll see when that is possible.

Been playing since beta. Hate that i can not use my ggg acct on xb1 spent tons of cash supporting tbis games development we should be able to use any device to play on our accounts that funded this well payed for free game. We paid for the developmemt we are entitled to cross play use of our ggg accounts......

When you are competing with someone over the same customer why would the leader really want to do something that may help their competition.
Microsoft didn't want to do crossplay with Sony when they were dominating last gen and Sony was for it. Sony doesn't want to do crossplay with Microsoft now when they are dominating. |

I dont think Sony just say no.
It's more like the deal for crossplay is very strickt from sony's side. For example the game must be playable with keyboard and mouse. There must be a way to identify which System is used by the other players. And there must be a way, that the ps4 players can say no to cross play. Then the rules of the playstation network must be aplied to all others. And last money. I Think that's the reason, because the terms cant be fulfiled by most Companys. So yes it is a no from Sony but not as an unbreakable wall. |

new RPG Dauntless has cross play between Xbox, PS and PC from the get go.
