Poe's lore is a hodge-podge of IRL stories and borrowed themes.

Nothing in Poe is real, in any sense of the word, except for Zana, who is Zealand New, erm New Zealand.

Wasn't Kaom manipulated by Malachai (who, at that point, had almost full control over the beast)? Laviagna THOUGHT it was Kitava because his pantheon didn't have any other deity that would manipulate people like this. Also, keep in mind that the beast only suppressed the gods' powers. It did NOT nullify them. Otherwise the templars wouldn't have become what they are and Navali would never have had her powers. Oh, and Cadiro Peradus wouldn't exist in his current form either. Either that or some gods managed not to get imprisoned by the beast in the first place. But why would Kitava wait with his return then?

Regarding the "Cannibal God" thing, it's a name he was given by his followers. It doesn't necessarily mean that he actually consumes gods. I feel like it's a less fitting name for Kitava. "The Ravenous God" is probably the one that is closest to what he actually is. He isn't inherently evil. Mischievous? Certainly. Hungry? For sure. Evil? No. All his actions are results of his insatiable hunger and thirst for vengeance against the gods who punished him (two of which we haven't even seen yet). Cannibalism is likely the final result of his hunger, but one that much quicker manifests in his followers. So it shouldn't be "Cannibal god", but much rather "God of cannibals".

About Sin keeping secrets... he didn't get his name for nothing. He certainly caused a great deal of suffering in his past. He openly admits that he has sinned in the past (which is interesting... can gods even commit sins? Who says that what they did was a sin? Do the gods have gods above them? Who are they? And can they sin?). I'm fairly sure that Sin was the cause for some hideous atrocities in the past, but he wants to redeem himself.



TL;DR: I don't think Sin is Kitava, it wouldn't make much sense. However, I could see Sin getting influenced by the essence of the gods he absorbed or by some other entity (the one that controls the elder maybe?). Also, I get the feeling that the next acts will be about Ezomyr, what caused it's downfall and about the first ones (honestly, we got quite a bit of stuff related to them already but only ever met their avatars. They are still quite mysterious overall).
