Spears and Polearms

Cool.
Those spears (2H halberd + 1H javelin) should be the weapon that requires both STR, DEX and INT at same time, as they look sharp as axes but are long as staves.

Why shouldn't you be able to equip a 1H spear with another non-spear weapon? Plenty of cultures used a mix of armaments beyond just long spear or short spear plus shield. Spear + net is a combination made popular due to gladiator tropes, but I'm fairly sure there were more combinations tried and practiced throughout history.

i agree, adding the possibility to use a spear with another weapon, and even another spear would grant even more customization = a lot of unique builds.
Nets would be cool, however, they didn't make for practical combat weapons. No gladiator armaments did, it was show fighting, not actual war fighting. Yes, theoretically you could use a spear and a sword, but it would be unwieldy, as the spear is slow in one hand, leaving little room for defending oneself. Hence using the shield alongside it.
Also, spear and shield fighting was primarily used by military units, where they could be mobilized in effective formations like the Phalanx or the Schiltrom, as the combination is too slow to use in single combat. The exception being shortspears being used in conjunction with smaller shields, which would be doable.
Grant us eyes.
Spears could be implemented in a way to put some variety to existing weapon classes.
For example, a heavy sword, Zweihander-like that's 100% strength, still benefiting from Sword passive skills like the dex ones; Crossbows being more of dex+int weapon, perhaps, but being improved the same way as regular bows; maybe one handed flails for a mace-type weapon; short ranged throwing axe and a throwing knife working for axes and dagger skills and of course, our beloved polearms fitting the staff skills, perhaps requiring all three attributes to be used.

This would increase item variety by a longshot without requiring a heavy re-balance of existing gameplay, specially for the skill tree.

I'm all for adding spears! I always love spear wielding characters whether its full spear, short spear with shield or sword, or a pole-arm. Would make fighting more interesting! I'd love to see my character fight with a staff or spear like a double bladed sword, holding it in the middle.
I agree wholeheartedly, spears, javelins, and polearms need to be included i would really love to see a falx or a naginata or swordspear. I really miss not being able to have the sort of sweeping, slashing, and stabbing style afforded by a longer blade at the end of a naginata or the sheer cutting power in a falx.
+1 for spears and polearms!
Bump.

Let them know that we really would like to see those types in game :)

+1 spears!
Would love seeing a barrage-based skill using Spears.
I keep wondering what that "+2 Melee and Unarmed Range" passive in the Duelist area actually does, along with really wishing I could toss out Viper strikes or attacks with knockback without needing be in french kiss range to start with.

So I am all for long spear weapons.

I do want there to be some kind of distinction between the Str/Int Staffs and something that's really obviously a big wavy midrange weapon.

I'd be really excited if there could be a way for it to just really suck at any attacks you make within normal knife range of yourself (weird inversion of point blank mechanics?)

I would totally use that unique item.

Hint hint prospective diamond unique makers.

Although javelins are cool too.
Why am I wearing a heavy belt if I haven't got any pants?
