Why is a Chaos worth 2 Fusings?

The reason why this prob will not change is due to the amount of fusings needed to 5L and 6L gear.

When you are trying to go from 5L to 6L... there is ZERO compromise, you basically expend as many fusings as you need to get that 6L.

Same thing with 4L boots/gloves/helm... there is ZERO compromise, you spend as many fusings as possible to get that 4L because it is REQUIRED for certain builds.

Whereas chaos... you can compromise quite a bit, you might reroll a chest, it might not be "perfect", but you'll think "meh I can live with that"... whereas in the case of fusings, you don't go "meh I can live with that" you either get the links you want or you don't.


And then when you've gotten your 5L/6L, you need a shit ton of Chaos to roll high level maps.

I actually question this. I predict the rise of Chaos to be very sticky, for two reasons:

1. Chaos is overpriced as is. Yeah, it's not a common drop and it's really useful in a lot of situations, but still - the fact remains that compared with a lot of other types of currency, you just don't use many Chaos, and you don't need as many.

2. Chaos is overpriced largely due to the already rigid pricing structure. Why is Chaos worth 2 alch? It just is. Why is GCP worth 3 chaos? It just is. A great many of the trade values belong to the category of "pulled out of someone's ass". There's nothing wrong with that, of course, but it would take a very serious market shakeup to change this, and, well, there's still a ton of Chaos in circulation regardless of the change in the recipe. Who's gonna be the first to demand 3 fusing for a chaos instead of 2? And who's going to take him seriously?

It seems no one in here has a clue. The prices are almost entirely dictated by the vendor exchange rates for orbs (See Yeena). Not "pulled out of someone's ass"

This is simply tied to the vendors.

1 Alch = 1 Fusing
4 Chances = 1 scouring = 1 alch
Scouring + Alch = Chaos effect.

Getting 20 alchemy shards is about the same as getting 8 alteration orbs.


The devs could easily add a chaos orb against 2 alchs/2 fusings/1 scour+alch and there won't be any trades anymore.



Or the devs could a chance like reroller which I would prefer and change the chaos receipe till level 60.
Instead of rerolling rare you get reroll item with random rarity white->unique.

The real reason why chaos are worth two fusings is because a chaos is worth two alchemy orbs, and a fusing is worth an alchemy, and they have similar drop rates (aswell as demand).

A chaos is worth two alchemy orbs just because a scouring is also worth an alchemy orb, and an alchemy + a scouring do the exact same thing as a chaos orb.

Vendor prices are very different regarding alch - fusing.

Using purely vendor exchange:
Fusing = Chance
4 x Chance = Scouring
2 x Scouring = Regret
Regret = Alchemy

This would mean 8 Fusings for 1 Alchemy and if alch + scour = chaos then vendor exchange dictates 12 fusings are worth one chaos.

So yes the player prices are somewhat "pulled out of someone's ass".

40% combined quality gems yields 1 gcp at vendor.
