Consistent Lag spikes linked to specefic Australian backhaul internet provider

Thank You again to all :) and i started winMTR at 8.30pm australia time :)

I just tested this and can confirm. When I switched to my mobile hotspot I did not lag at all. I had crappy fps and high latency but the lag spikes were gone. I really hope GGG does something about this because the game is unplayable in it's current state.

So - I have a bit of an update.

I spent about 30 minutes on the phone today chatting to a representative of Mate Communicate. This is after a multiple week long fault ticket/report with Mate, that has been forwarded on to Vocus, and has been escalated twice since I originally submitted the fault complaint.

Today, he heard back from somebody at Vocus. Vocus are saying that this issue is indeed related to the new undersea cable infrastructure that Vocus have recently switched over to using. It has been causing, from what I can gather, pretty dramatic issues for various servers around the web - not just Path of Exile's servers.

Unfortunately, according to the Vocus technician, there is currently no ETA on this being resolved. They don't seem to have a solution yet, or it's going to take an unknown amount of time to implement it.

Whatever the case may be, it seems that;

-This may not be an issue GGG has any control over fixing - unsure if this means there is absolutely nothing that can be done on their end toward even just reducing it or otherwise, but I would have to assume probably not.
-This is an issue that is going to be entirely reliant on Vocus to fix properly/long term.

I can't say that this doesn't suck quite a bit. Hopefully Vocus will come up with an ETA on a fix soon, and we won't have to deal with this for too much longer.

Same issue for me , i played years ago with my brother at the same house and we had zero problems with lag. Tried to play with again for legion and we will have no lag at all then around peak it will spike up to like 1500ms+ and sometimes just completely lag out and never recover. our internet speeds are consistent the whole time. I also have vocus on the trace, but I'm an Iprimus customer not Mate.

I have been having these exact same issues. Jittery gameplay due to constant lag spikes, however, I am with Optus living in SE Melbourne. Honestly, every league I stop playing because of this, then I come back next league after I've forgotten how irritating it is and re-live this whole shitty experience again.

Is this being explored by the GGG staff at all or are we unable to play untill the ISP does something (which will be never)?

lost my atzoat temple map today.. so unplayable,, this is why i quit early in every league.. its only happened in atzoat map.. but fine in my hideout and other map.. WTFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

Hey doomscyth3, were you able to get any info on the undersea cable? Is it connecting Australian city's? or countries? Last thing I can find was Vocus's Singapore cable from Perth. Though the few traces that I have bothered to look at are hops all within Aus according to IP. So I don't quite understand, unless traffic is going through this cable that it would cause other issues. Especially when all the reports seem to be from various locations around Aus.


@Fitzy_GGG will get you instance IP'S tomorrow night, as it looks like no one has so far. Trace routes just don't match the ping in game at all.
