PS4 release date

Any news on when it will be released for the playstation? I understand launching the game on a new platform takes time, but GGG is kinda starting to test our patience, I am sure I will get the "play PC, or get a PC" comments, but I am looking forward to the console version as I cant afford a decent one,
We were eagerly waiting since December and I know GGG said mid march but some update would really keep our hopes up.

Last info is still "maybe mid-March but we will give you an update 2 weeks prior".

If you wish, you can stalk follow devs posts here: https://www.gggtracker.com/
The problem with PS4 news is that we'll get an announcement, followed by weeks of silence. It inevitably becomes apparent that plans had changed somewhere along the line, and we're eventually told about the change of plans in a manner that causes the whole cycle to repeat.

While I can understand that from the perspective of GGG, our repeated requests for an update must sound like a child in the back-seat on a long journey going "are we there yet?" every couple of minutes, a couple of things are evident:

a) GGG doesn't seem eager to discuss the PS4 version much at all

Whenever anyone does happen to get a response from GGG regarding the PS4 release, it's pretty much always just a link to the announcement which was made a couple of weeks ago.

I can appreciate that there probably isn't any new to say on the subject. However, if the only response you're ever given is "look at this announcement we posted half a month ago", that kind of speaks volumes about their enthusiasm for the project.

Sometimes the PC version often gets into a position where a ton of exciting information has dropped, and the community has plenty to dissect and get excited for. GGG is also clearly excited too, and this is apparent because if you ask a GGG staff member about Synthesis you'll typically get a much more enthusiastic reply that isn't just "here, look at the announcement". They're excited about the update themselves and want to talk about it, even if there isn't anything new to say on the matter, or anything more they're *allowed* to say... in which case they'll play around and tease us.

So in contrast, the PS4 version almost appears to be a chore to them, and the way it seems to be handled (make a single post, just in case anyone asks, so we can just keep pointing to that rather than actually *discussing* a version of the game that doesn't really interest them) is becoming more blatant the longer this goes on, and the more exciting things happen which are not PS4 related.

b) GGG isn't firmly committed to a PS4 version coming out at all

PoE was originally announced as a December 2018 release. The game has been delayed several times, and a variety of reasons have been given for that, usually related to Sony and their lengthy certification process.

So theoretically the PS4 version *could* have been available for over 3 months already, and yet there's *still* no Playstation 4 section on the forum.

If GGG really, really care about the PS4 version and are determined to get the game released at some point even if there are delays here and there, then the PS4 version's release is inevitable. A Playstation 4 forum section made in December would still exist on the site and be functional, ready for when the game does happen to come out. It doesn't hurt to have the section ready in advance.

The game was delayed until February. GGG didn't add the PS4 forum during January in preparation for that. It's now scheduled to release in March, and we're now a week into March and there's *still* no PS4 section.

GGG does not need the permission of Sony to add a forum subsection dedicated to a forthcoming planned release to their own official website.

What does that tell me? While it doesn't hurt to have a forum section exist early in advance of release, having the section open prematurely can present problems of it's own. If the game never ends up being released, and winds up being cancelled, then the forum subsection would have to be deleted. Or the section could exist for many, many months and being a magnet for spam and misuse before it becomes truly relevant.

But the lack of a rush to add the forum section says to me that GGG really don't have faith in their own statements regarding PS4. It's almost like they *know* it won't be released in March (or December, or February). Assuming a PS4 version exists at all (and I have by theories there which I won't elaborate on here), it's possible they severely jumped the gun by trying to take advantage of the Diablo Immortal fiasco by prematurely announcing their secret PS4 port that they might have only just begun work on.

So once you made waves by announcing such a project early, and you know you messed up because it's impossible to finish in such a short time-frame, what do you do? Come out, say sorry, and let the hype die (and destroy your own reputation in the process), or make short vague announcements once a month making excuses for the delay, to do your best to get the existing hyped community to stick around for the duration by always heavily suggesting (though never outright promising) the game's release the following month.
amazing reply man, I feel the same way, I guess they don't want our business
Even on the official playstaion page its stays "out now". It seem that GGG really dont care about the ps4 version at all and thats a real shame and kinda embarrassing tbh.

Ppl get attacked on reddit for being impatient and childish for just asking about an update. Instead we get five screenshots a day about some items but not even one simple reply.

GGG talks about a good first impression on ps4 but they alrdy lost it.
I havent played since couple of years and the PS4 release brought back my interest into PoE. I hope it happens soon so I dont have to stay away another 2 years. I even bought a PS4 since december for this. And I have been filling my time with Diablo... which is kinda... ironic ;)

It will only be on the PS4 Pro Enhanced. That's why there's no promotion.
so the new league starts tomorrow and no sign of a release. what a wasted opportunity. really disappointed in the lack of communication aswell. delay after delay it just feels really scummy.

I can't be sure, but I think I read an article somewhere where Chris said he chose to delay the game from mid-February to March because he didn't think it was a good idea to launch PoE on PS4 in the middle of a league.

If true, that paid off, didn't it...
Obviously, there's something going on between Tencent and Sony that is keeping them from talking about it. GGG isn't even welcome at that table.
