"Fixing" lab enchants
Playing constantly since just before Abyss - I can't say enough about how much I enjoy POE. GGG, you've truly set the bar for ARPGs!
I was watching the most recent Baeclast (#37) with Chris Wilson. At one point, helm enchantments were mentioned in the context of how they might be changed in the future. Chris' take (that GGG doesn't want to wreck the lab farming niche of the community) had me thinking. What if lab enchantments were like Bestiary orbs? As in, you claim the enchantment in an orb, and can later apply it to an item? Granted, it means more enchants would be available than usual, since the current game state is to roll over the bad ones. Is that a zero-sum proposition? Who knows. Just wanted to throw that one out there as even though I'm not a lab farmer, I'd still pay a pretty penny in game currency to get an orb of enchantment while assembling my builds... With all respect and best wishes for the future, Ganraeln Last bumped on Mar 5, 2019, 7:57:32 PM

Can you be more specific? How would this create a worse enchant system?
Granted, I was somewhat unclear about the orb concept - the orb would not be an unknown enchant, it would be known (i.e., an orb of enchantment that is identified to be a "Magma Orb does more damage" helm enchant). |

Well instead of paying 2-5ex for the helmet you now pay 2-5ex for the orb
No real difference right but you can get the enchant on your favourite helmet Need more brains, exile?

" Basicly this would turn lab into enchant farm. Now its more than just enchants. You have to consider a lot of things while enchanting your items. But this system you suggested would only make it simpler, easier and less fun. We can compare this to bestiary orbs. We have bestiary orbs and we dont have to catch the monsters. It has almost no fun or challenge doing a bestiary craft. But doing lab enchants is fun. Its not just the enchant but the helmet comes into factor while you are enchanting which eventually might effect the price. If we implement the system you suggested lab would be just senseless farming grind. That would ruin the whole ecstasy of enchanting a good helmet. Because of these reasons i think its a bad idea and could have negative effects on enchant system. Trust your mind and strengthen your abilities! And that's worse because....?
It still gives the lab farmers their due, and opens up build options for those players that don't want to jam a Starkonja's or Devoto's into their build like a square peg in a round hole??? With Synthesis coming up and the new implicits on synthesized items, I'd sure prefer to buy the orb, rather than hope some lab farmer just happens to hit on the right enchant with just the right synthesized implicits - we're entering a realm of lightning strike probabilities with the upcoming league. |

" I told u here: " are u not reading or smth? Lab enchants are more than just the enchant. Its also the base. You might prefer just an easy ''i ll give the money and buy the enchant orb'' but its no fun. Its a low chance of hitting the good enchant and because of those odds its fun to do the lab. As i told you before; turning lab enchants into orbs would only make it worse. Because there is fun in doing lab. You might not enjoy it but i know a lot of people do play the game just for the lab runs. We dont need to turn a fun rng system into give the money buy the orb system. what if there were 3 categories for enchants, STR, INT and DEX.
and then you could like pay 250 chromes+offering and (kinda)choose what you want. in this scenario there are no attack stuff on a caster base and vise versa...unless you wanna go cheap and trust RNG d:-D*

" For starters, your post hit while I was writing mine, so no, I didn't read your post. I have now. Your point is well taken, despite the snarky comment. |
