It was my build he was replying to, I went for a Purifying flame build similar to this OP build. I like it, haven't played the BV version so I can't compare. If you go on poe ninja and filter by ES you can see my current chieftan up there for reference.

I tested Purifying flame with standard.
Although it is a low gem level, it seemed strong.
We also tested Shield Holding and Increased AOE per 50str.
I felt that the Increased AOE per 50str was very strong.

A single DPS will have a high blade vortex.
It is probably a blade vortex that can be a face tank.

However, the farm speed is likely to be higher with Purifying flames.

I updated PoB, I think im doing the -resist right. I don't think the helm enchant is working on PoB yet so I reduced resist more to account for it.

Current PF DPS is 1.8m (with level 21 gem), Vaal RF 660k, Holy flame totem 457k.

Burst DPS highly geared = ~3 million.

I took your advice and added blood rage, swapped out flame dash for shield charge/fortify cause it feels better. I kept my shield, I need the crit chance to proc EO (with out shield it is 2% crit chance, with it is 7%) and I like the extra es.

The only other tweak I was pondering was getting a circle of anguish ring with + HoA buff effect and + fire damage. I would need to replace my shield with a resist one to do that, which changes a lot of other things. PoB doesn't have circle of anguish in it yet so I can't really see how much higher DPS would be.
