It's Back! - Underused Skills Challenge - Seeking Some Input and thoughts from last time
I will again be funding the league to get it started and plan to do so next Saturday, February 9th at Noon USA Central, so the first people interested just need to be invited. Then hopefully it can be crowdfunded from there.
Last time we had over 120 players and it was a lot of fun! This time I'd like to have the rule-set a bit more polished and I'd like some input: 1) I'm leaning toward doing the league on Softcore this time. If so, I intend to add the additional challenge mod "players have -40% all resists. Other mods include: increased monster damage and life (tier 2), extra proj, increased monster speed (tier 2), monsters have 30% of phys as extra F, C, and L damage (tier 2). EDIT: Some people made very good points about the -40 all resists, which includes chaos. So I think it's going to be a softcore league with all the tier 2 mods except -resists. 2) I'm also considering removing the SSF aspect to create a small micro economy, though I'm less inclined to do that unless a great majority would prefer it. EDIT: The vote was almost exactly 50/50, so I'm just going to leave it as SSF. I understand the appeal of both, and I hope those people wanting trading will still participate and give it a try on SSF!; 3) I'd like skill feedback. I reached out to GGG a couple times to try to get their data for skill usage, but have not received a response. (I don't really know why as they've previously released this info in the past). This left me with the less than ideal solution of using poe.ninja which only allows me to pull data from players level 96-100. The list below is anything in the 0.0% to 0.1% range. Also, there are a handful of active skills that are literally unused by players 96-100, even without a 5 link. Note: u****nless you've got a good argument, I'd prefer to remove a few skills from the list rather than add more. EDIT: There were some skills missed. IDK if it's something with poe.ninja or what. But I'm going through and going to cut some skills as I feel the list was too long. POLLS: Please read the rules below before voting. Golems: You can any of the three golems listed above in any way you choose. However, Ice Golem and Flame Golem may only be unlinked, or linked to defensive support gems (like minion life) or CWDT. Heralds: This was a big oversight last time! You may use any heralds so long as they are unlinked (Enlighten Support being the only exception) Other Exceptions: corpse creation skills, auras, curses, support gems and skills (molten shell, warcries, etc). counterattacks (these CAN be linked to damage supports if you choose), non-damaging totems, and movement skills (except cyclone, consecrated path, and flicker strike). Couple additional thoughts:
1) I wish you could set a date (like next saturday) and begin the crowdfunding prior to the start date. As of now it seems it will just automatically begin the league when the crowdfund level is reached. 2) I don't see why you can't crowdfund both the extension of the league and the expansion of players at the same time. Last time it was one or the other. (I have no intention of extending the date, but someone wanted it last time and offered to crowdfund it on their own). 3) It would obviously be neat if you could ban out some skills or set some parameters when you create a league. Though that's probably hard to design and would take a lot of their resources; 4) More private league mods would be nice. I hope they are working on them. 5) I know they only want mods with downsides, but I wish they'd consider some different ideas too. Like 500% more uniques drop in all areas, but you can only equip unique or normal items! Would be so fun! Related to this challenge: 1) Should Essence Drain be added? It was in the 0.2% category, but I'd lean toward just cutting or ignoring contagion. 2) Herald of Agony was a big oversight last time. I assume it's not going to be OP if it's unlinked right? 3) I personally like the idea of everyone being on an even footing with SSF, but I also had some requests last time with people wanting to play with friends. Also, some people may just want to play a mini-game and see how much wealth they can acquire in 10 days or something! 4) I can do prizes but no one was really interested in Standard prizes last time. I think I'd probably have like 40 exalts worth in standard if I organized my standard stash. 5) I think the "challenge" this time should be who can delve deepest, rather than highest level. There used to be a really neat mirror arrow build, they even featured it on that build of the week/month (forget what it was) and than promptly nerfed it into the ground a patch or so later.

" Haha, I was JUST thinking this! Maybe next time :) What worried me is we are getting to the bottom of the barrel for skill choices, and I didn't want to limit people's creativity. But their are some ascendancies that are just so powerful they almost can make anything good. I might pick the bottom six ascendancies and expand the list a bit or something. |

1) so, its league only for payable players? i mean if i rly have money cause im scrub - i may not join it? (its fair, but just wanted to ask)
