Sire Of shards and molten strike

I was wondering if it could make a build to use sire of shards instead of grelwood shank.

It doesn't seem that the nova downside of sire of shards impacts a lot the way the projectiles hit the ground wiith molten strike and the projectile damage bonus is pretty nice.

I tried to search but no one ever did a molten strike build with this item is there a reason ?

Even assuming you can get the extra projectiles, you are now using a weapon scaled skill with a downright horrid weapon. You'd be better off with just about anything else.
i tried it for the extra projectiles and it works. I though that the extra projectile damage number on it would compensate for the lack of base weapon damage.
Hmm, the main issue is that the more base projectiles you have, the more diminishing returns you get from additional projectiles. Molten strike builds generally have a lot of projectiles already.

That being said I am hella curious to know what "Socketed gems fire in a nova" does to molten strike, might need to test that out when I get home today :P

It doesn't do much i have trouble noticing differences between the regular molten strikes et the one "in a nova" maybe the balls are more organised and form like a circle but it's hard to tell.

I don't think there is a diminishing return in having more balls, the more balls you have the more chance tu get to hit multiple times with a ball in single target and molten strike doesn't feel as good as it used to be since we lost a jewel in the betrayal patch note.

But yeah i think the damage range of the weapon is to low to make viable.
Someone did a Sire of Shards MS build a long, long time ago. I remember seeing it somewhere here in this forum.
What do you remember of this build was it interesting ?
It was expensive as shit due to minmaxing (standard with legacy gear), and even then the damage wasn't anything to write home about.

Hmm, the best way to describe it is like this.

If you have a skill that fires 1 projectile vs a skill that fires 10 projectiles, adding 4 additional projectiles is more useful to the skill that fires 1.

So, adding 4 projectiles to molten strike which fires 7 projectiles with the current optimal setup only provides a theoretical damage increase of 57%. If you lose an equal amount or more of dps by using sire of shards over an actual good weapon then it means it isn't worth it.
