No character customization + gender lock?

If this was a fps I could agree, but in an RPG where your character is everything and you look at it for hours and everybody looks the same except for armor, that is kinda sad in this day and age.

And yes I'am talking about facial features and hair styles ect.

Being that PoE is an ARPG played from a fairly high isometric angle any facial features are not going to be a focal point at any time during gameplay. Save those features for MMOs and single player RPGs where creating an individual means something. Here the class you pick is the character.

Then maybe post a link instead of playing the smartass bitch

Why should I post a link for someone too lazy to use a search feature? You're lucky I was feeling magnanimous enough to reiterate information freely found on this very forum. Name calling isn't a very fast way to make friends, pal.

What I found on the page about the cash shop didn't say anything about what I asked for.

"To fund the development and maintenance costs of the project, we plan to let players purchase aesthetic perks for their characters such as:

* Additional character animations (for example, taunts or PvP victory animations)
* Dyes and item skins
* Alternate spell effects
* Social pets

We will also offer some optional paid services such as:

* Inter-realm/inter-account character transfers
* Character renaming"

You have all the information right there. Witches are female. Duelists are male. Customization does not include gender changes. Deduce the rest yourself.

Not confirmed by GGG. Chris said it's very very expenssive and time consuming, so it's not high on their "do to" list.

Not on their "to do" list means its not in the game and not planned to be in the game at this time. This has been confirmed by the devs. Where am I mistaken?
The gender lock thing is silly. Sausage fest for sure.
@ mrshoon

The way you wrote it implies there will be gender customizations via cash shop, which is not confirmed.
"I am The Banisher, the ill will that snuffs the final candle." - Seal of Doom (MTG)
This might just mean that there's better story integration...

No, it doesn't. His question was two fold. Gender choice and feature customization. My answer addressed both of those separately. Didn't feel the need to list them as bullet points or a new paragraph. Seems like you're the only one interpreting it this way. Hope we're clear on this now.
Don't worry, for small fees you will be able to customize your characters with miscellaneous items, alternate clothes and best of all - hats!

(don't quote me on that though :P )

I have no problem with there being no customization. In Diablo 2, it was plenty satisfying to have your look be defined by your armor.
The reason you might not remember it as such is because the game has been littered with copy-paste hammerdins and bots for years now.
I think there are a few reasons for the lack of customization.

1) This is a small indy dev team and adding different genders costs them a considerable amount of money and time.

2) They plan on making money by allowing people to buy things that make their character look cooler. Since they don't want to sell anything that can give people an advantage, they probably want to make it so people can really stand out and look cool if they pay money.

3) A lot of your character is covered up with items anyway. It seems like you start out with items that make you look pretty wimpy, but as you progress, your character gets cooler looking armor and weapons.

The thread should end here. (: Thanks for a great summation.
I usually like to have my own hairstyle , eye color and body building type , things like those , but its our beloved devs choice. They know what the game needs most.
