The Elusive Level 100?

100 proves you have way too much time on your hands IMO. You could literally build 10 95s in time it takes to make one 100 and those 95s would be just as powerful more or less.

In other words, you're saying that as long as your build/gear is on point, those last 5 or 6 levels aren't going to do much for you?

most builds are complete at level 90,anything after that is just a bonus
Most builds are done at 91-94 depending on build. Builds and gems are designed to beat all content in those ranges. Gems are maxed 20/20. If gems went to 30 more would go to 100. As is no point other than to say you did it. It's not fun and you dont get much more powerful.

Yeah around level 85+ I get reminded why this game is stupid as hell end game. They've done a LOT to help, but it's still just:
* Long grinds of playing it safe
* Endless loot without upgrades because level 75 items can still get level 1 properties
* Maps where the only challenge is to not get one shot

I've gotten to 91, but I wouldn't recommend it. Time to move on to another game and check back a couple leagues from now. Eventually they might put in things like:
* Finally stopping leech so one shots aren't needed to add 'challenge'
* Adding a death recap so you can know why that lone skeleton just hit you for over 7k (my guess = lag and multiple hits)
* A way to stop the Tetris inventory. You were going retro, but it's just annoying. Don't be that hipster.

I don't know anyone who thinks it's fun to pick up rare items, identify them, oh look it's crap 99.999% of the time, repeat. So many stop picking up items, but most uniques are also horrible. At that point, what's the point? I thought SSF would make the item aspect better, but it's not.

Around 80% of a character's power comes from ascendancy, gear and gems.
About 20% is skilltree.

Having level 100 grants a bit of flat accuracy, mana and life, and 120 points instead of 115 is about a 4% increase.
But you probably took "all the really good stuff" within the first 115 points.

So you're probably 2-3% stronger at lvl 100 than at 115.

That's an ARPG for you. Not to diminish your complaint because you're entitled to your opinion (and I understand where you're coming from), but if you're going to play an ARPG, you have to expect the grind, the elusive upgrades, the days upon days without a loot drop you can actually use, etc. That's not a PoE thing. That's a genre thing.
level 100 requires you to grind many many hours (I'd say somewhere around the 100+ mark, but it can be very different for other people) on the highest level of content the game has to offer. It also requires (kinda) a good build to some extent, because you are bound to make mistakes during that grind, and if your build can't handle those mistakes, It will be very frustrating.
actually trying to, in std, already died some couples of times, adjusting build, trying again... Seem to be infinite, no progression at all.
I'm playing for too long at PoE and I want it as a form of achievement as I'm very casual and not very efficient.
... nothing
Once you get to 97ish you are half way to the xp you need to get to 100. Granted you don't die at all that is :)

It is not supposed to be a goal for every player, neither does the last few levels do much for your character. Once you get to 100 though(in SC) you don't lose or gain xp anymore so that is nice I guess :P

Ohhhhhh. I've seen others talking about losing XP but I haven't noticed it myself. My highest character is 60-ish and if I lose XP when I die, I haven't noticed it.

I realize that most games have diminishing returns as far as XP goes, but it's really THAT slow? Ouch!

For those of you who consider 92/94+ "maxed", do you feel as if those last 6 or 8 passive points would have a tremendous impact on your builds? In other words... does level 92/94 feel "finished" to you?

I really appreciate your responses. I typically don't engage in forums much, but PoE folks are genuinely helpful. It's refreshing.

At level 90 you get an achievement "diminishing returns"

Basically telling you to commit or reroll.
That's usually when I reroll.
I will wear your ghost and you will die twice, against me and for me.
That is some cold blooded shit to say...
