Hierophants Ruined with Ritual of Awakening Change
As someone who's had a hierophant rocking totems every league, I don't see this as a positive change.
A lot of the appeal with totems for me is that a league starter they can get by with lesser gear well enough for you to build up currency, thanks in part to ascendency. Making them more gear dependent doesn't make a lot of sense - a single totem already gets penalized and to remove one and replace it with a minor multiplier doesn't say balance to me - it says they don't want folks using hierophant for totems. Granted, if some really nice gear comes out then maybe... but look what happened with making mirror amazing but made it so insanely rare anyone who would have access to it would have something outperforming a totem build anyway. Yep, totally over league play.

At the very least, you should be able to somewhat easily make up for the -1 to max totems as a result of this change with the veiled mod for shields "+1 to maximum number of totems" which means that it shouldn't be as bad apart from the obvious placement arguement.

" hopefully its available on more pieces of gear than just shield. what if you want to use ranged attack totem and bow/quiver, for instance. ya i don't think i can comfortably start hierophant this league with so many looming uncertainties. good old raider start it is, again. |

Plus it is the same "bonus" in the multiple totem support gem - so it make I am guessing the other ways to get more totems were: +1 totem on shield (and probably quiver) and then the new multiple totem support gem. Would be nice if there are other ways to get more totems (also I think hierophant would not be a go to build for totem players if there were more ways to get totems). |

Yeah overall I agree.
Double totem summoned is just dumb and takes away some control from player of placing totems. Would rather see like 100% more totem placement speed if we're doubling totems placed |

it already has 50% totem placement speed, which kind of sounds like that'll go away in place of placing two at once.

I'm more wait and see. Depends how the totems are placed, if they are one on top of each other, it's pretty meh.
As long as nothing else changes, since we are only getting +1 totem from hierophant, I'm probably more likely to go Scion totems, Hiero/Chieftain, for that totem Life Leech. |

" I'd agree with Shags here. And the multiple totem type build is nerfed here, I'm not saying it was amazing but it was fun and nice to level since you get 2 totems at 15 skill points. Now we go back to boring single type totem builds, that will surely alleviate my socket drought problems. But those multiple totem builds were bunch of fun. Hopefully those +1 totem are not crazy rare mods or like that damn expensive unique shield, then okay single type totem it is. Filthy Casual Scrub. Sucks for multi totem, but then again, technically halves the mana cost of totems. Can be made easy mode for mass totems with this + new support :P 3 totems in 1 button.
