I don't understand sulphite cap.
Didn't they just raise said cap like 2 days ago?

" A week and a half ago they raised it to 30k, along with the fever dream they had about changing sulphite costs; then 8 hours later they had an epiphany that made them go in the complete opposite direction, including nerfing the cap down to 18k. Apparently it only took them another week to realize they messed up again ...and decided to triple it....behind grindy upgrades. This dev team as zero idea what they are doing, or what the players are actually asking. |

" You're taking the changes out of context. They raised the cap proportionately with delve costs, then reduced it proportionately, when people complained that they couldn't delve which was because they weren't playing maps at the same level as GGG had expected. This update is the first in that series to actually raise the cap. The time it was raised to 30k was to nerf quarry. |

" It's his troll account. He probably does play on another account, at least I've always presumed that he does. And frankly, in this instance, I think he has a valid point. For me the cap seems contrived and unnecessary. A lot of the Azurite based upgrades seem that way to be honest. The whole league is a bunch of things that might have seemed like a good idea to people who don't actually play the game but in reality aren't very fun. People don't understand game design and Skinner boxes. With no sulphite cost or cap people would do nothing but Delve for a week, get bored and quit league, just like Diablo 3.
That's fine (preferred, in fact) if you're Blizzard, and 100% of your revenue is front loaded, meaning you lose money when people actually play your game. It's not so great with a F2P game like this one, however. |

" Can you please explain what is the difference between getting bored grinding endless delves (with loot rewarding you!) and getting bored grinding sulphite ? | |
" You've conflated cost and cap. This is just about the cap. Your reasoning only applies to the cost. " Both mechanics require you to vary your play. You have to both delve and map, which is the point. Yes, a higher cap means you can delve longer, but you still have to come to the surface eventually. Eliminate the cap and (some) people will map for days and then delve until they're sick of it...and leave, which is why the cap amount is an important lever for player retention. The psychology is that it doesn't matter how much you like cake, if that's all you eat you'll grow tired of it. Just delving leads to burnout. Just mapping leads to burnout. Both the cost and cap force you to do both, hopefully leading to longer retention in league. People are still going to leave, the point of this league is to keep more people playing longer, simple as that. Last edited by TheBagman#2192 on Oct 2, 2018, 9:29:40 PM

" You are still conflating cost and cap incorrectly IMO. With no cap I can map as much as a like and delve until its empty. With a cap I can only map as much as they’d like and then delve until its empty. Claiming that somehow the latter leads to less boredom than the former is stretching things quite a bit. I don’t even see how you get there. It’s only by making one activity unlimited with no cost, and therefore no required switching of activities, that leads to what you are referring to and that is solely driven by cost. No, your scenario only takes place in a no cap world when someone is bored of mapping and delving. In that world adding a cap won’t change anything. So, cap is pretty pointless.
