Aul the crystal king. This boss needs tuning.

Penetration alone would kill anyone nearly all builds cuz hes mainly pure ice like probably 10% physical at most.

Dying in one shot to a regular sword swing from depth500 Aul on a near depth800 char is alright.

What build are you tested this boss with? Mirror gear feathers soda flaskfinder? Surely seems like it.

TLDR: ggg cannot and will not and can NEVER EVER NEVER make any meaningful mechanic in Path of Exile. Path of Exile is not action RPG. It is stat sticks game. Actions such as dodging manually is most of the time useless since you dont see anything on the screen anymore due to bazillion effects.

The main problem with GG ggg is that they power creep everything to a point where any "meaningful interaction" is a meaningless thing now. That is why boss fights feel so cheap and bland and only full of absurd oneshot mechanics. Their only definition of "HARD" is just increasing stats and not mechanics. 1 billion damage vs 100 defense is just a matter of whether you have the stats or not. It is binary, you live or you die. ggg just cannot make any meaningful interaction now with everything so fast. Some mobile games are actually more polished combat wise compared to silly path of exile at this point. At this point, they should just give everyone a one button kill all enemies.

i found 3 auls so far.

only died the first time i fought him (i also went in blind, didn't want to look up a video and wanted to be surprised by new content. no regrets). i think it's a solid boss.

i had very low dps and was melee.

this seems like another case of people with crazy offense and zero defense complaining about dying.

Half of people here have no idea you can cheese him using aquamarine flask and items such as "avoid mods" (like Deafening Essence of Suffering crafted items) - cold damage converted to-aspect of cat-Hopeshredder.

Coupled with pathfinder, the flasks and items will give you 10 sec of cold immunity.

It is a case of git gud and stop playing paper builds.

The boss is only hard because of the amount of RNG bullshit u need for him to spawn or if you play braindead -0 defense builds.

In general case an example of how to counter penetration:
Great wolf talsiman for example (while being super expensive) will counter the penetration as all damage will be converted another one and such a monster will not be able to use pen (in case the map mod don t contain global penetration mod) .

50% cold to fire talisman can be used with less effectiveness but much cheaper and in case ai AUl of better use.

Explain me please, Delve mods get 6% pen to 12% global pen while others areas don t contain any pen.

the boss spawning with % global pen do not care about 100% cold to to fire items but you can still get around it with global avoiding mods.

In what case do you think I have no experience or did my bad english prevented you to understand what I was saying?
