3 red 1 blue socket on Alpha's howl

Hi guys,
I am thinking about using herald of ash, herald of purity and Anger + Enlighten Support on my alpha's howl which is dexterity based. This means I need 3 red and 1 blue socket on it.
It's not neccesary, I know. But what else to do with the 4th slot on alpha's howl. Additional mana might make me use another gem instead of blood magic on my leap.

So if i use the "at least 3 red sockets" thing more than once - will I get a blue one some day? How would you do it?

You can try a small trick.

At first you will craft 4 sockets yourself or use vorici.

Once you have 4 sockets, use vorici bench and buy 2 red sockets for 25 chromes. If you need another red socket and didnt get it, use the vorici bench to go back to 2 sockets.

Those 2 sockets will be the red ones you bought before.
Then use vorici bench again to craft a 3rd sockets. Not the right color? Go back to 2 sockets and repeat until the color is right. If you have to, do the same for the 4th socket (it will take more jewels though).

You will get even 4 off colors that way rather easily but there´s still luck involved.

I hope it´s clear or use YT for better understanding.

You can also try with "2 red, 1 blue" from Vorici and hope for the best.
A single try will cost you 100 chromes though.

@Rakiii thanks! I didn't know that if you go "back" to less sockets you keep the ones you have crafted before.
So basically you are saying it's cheaper to go "erase" sockets and get a new one if I got this right. I thought the item "sees" it has already 3 "wrong colours" so the 4th is extremely unlikely to not be a green one. Am I wrong here?

On an int base I did three green from Vorici and then went back and forth from 3 to 4 sockets until the last one showed up red. Took about 120 jewelers.

You probably won't get all off colours using chromes.
Alright, so it seems it's not even that unlikely and also it seems the items do not "see" that they have already 3 "wrong coloured" sockets doing the vorici method.

So thanks guys! Will try that out soon.
This is a great tip that I used to get 3 red sockets on intelligence-based boots. Doing that with dumb luck would cost several thousand chromes according to https://siveran.github.io/calc.html

It can still cost a lot, mind you, as you still rely on RNG rolls, but it will certainly be cheaper than rolling and rolling and rolling the usual way.
For the record I'd like to mention that the socket trick is far cheaper on average than getting a forced 3rd off coloured socket by paying 100/120 chroms.

Going by poe.ninja, each attempt for the 3rd socket costs less than 0.4c, but a forced 3rd costs ~5.4 (or 6.8 if you need the same colour for all 4).
If i understand whats happening correctly here, when additional sockets get added they have an even chance of all 3 colors instead of the exponentially harder odds using chromatics?
This technique is how I made this:

But I used 2R+1B vorici on a 3S, then 4S/3S repeat until I got the 4th socket red. I think it took 5 tries.
