Aspect of Carnage is fine, come on, its like the least controversial thing about Berserker. Its basically an Abyssus without needing an item slot and without 40% increased damage taken of the most expensive to mitigate top pk damage source.
Your argument with the 8 Frenzy charge raider is missing something. I mean yea there are classes that get more damage without being handicapped but are somewhat specialized or have to go certain paths in the skilltree, they need to go crit like inquisitor or ele damage like elementalist. As a Raider you better make sure that you get at least 2 frenzy charges from the skilltree which means you have to burn 4 skillpoints and always go paths that lead you to frenzy charges, even if you dont like to do so. As Berserker you are not limited to anything of that and that allows you to freely navigate on the skilltree according to your needs and WITHOUT NEEDING UNREALISTIC JEWELS TO COMPENSATE and then you can do stuff in fucking SSF that most other ascendancys cant do without being paper or dealing 0 damage or both. Fancy stuff like going Templar MoM and Ranger Dodge Wheel at the same time. Berserker can do that with hardly missing anything, check out my char "Fluffy_Hyena_Ears". The versatility of the Berserker comes at a price, namely that in the end he will be always worse than the specialists at their thing due to his handicaps and the often nonsensical for many builds other ascendancy nodes of his ascendancy tree. In times where people read the "this is a buff" patch notes and perfectly design their 5M shaper dps 10k ehp builds in advance with realistic items, the current Berserker is indeed a bad choice for competitive players and thats why streamers dont play Berserker at all for like 3 leagues and also the majority of players ignores him. The Berserker is indeed numberwise underwhelming in relation to the handicaps but he is absolutely playable and fun, I play him all the time and know that a gladiator or jugger wouldnt meet my "SSF BTW, I CHANGED MY MIND BRB FARMING 100 REGRETS LOL" special needs more. The Berserker changes were made after Abyss league, that is for sure not a coincidence so I suppose that the devs balanced Berserker around some 12 perfect Abyss jewels full of flat damage and scale all that damage with attack speed, crit, melee damage from Rage and shit like that. Something that no normal person would do or think of because its impossible to get all that stuff and yea with all the abyss jewels his versatility to scale and leech all kinds of damage without being limitied to any certain passive tree routes MIGHT have been too much for Rory. Instant leech isnt dead, there is still bloodseeker, currently 1 alc in Delve Standard at poetrade. 250 pdps, solid 1.68 APS and 6 base crit is enough to scale enough damage for the red maps and even beyond and if not then just pop in 10 abyss jewels and scale from flat ele damage or whatever. All the new content gives you so much choice to make this work if you really want to. I tried some bloodseeker Lightning Strike Berserker with instant leech in standard SSF and it worked pretty well but yea the game has changed and instant leech isnt as strong anymore as you think. The problem with instant leech now is that all the phased bossfights and shit make you rip faster than anything else if you just mindlessly do your thing and if you cant do shit mindlessly then instant leech itself has failed, because that was its sole purpose. To just mindlessly hit things all the time and stay full hp all the time. The game has changed mechanically so much that you cant really rely on it anymore to stay alive whenever the game has pauses and phases and since 2.0 the game got A LOT pauses and phases ... Bosses just fucking disappear or go invulnerable and still damage you or yea the 14% degen is AIDSing you down, instant leech just isnt as good anymore to keep a player alive reliably. In my mind the most moronic things about the current Berserker design are: -The minor nodes give increased attack physical damage. Wanna scale from flat elemental damage? Wanna scale ailment damage? Wasted. -Rage does not increase ailment damage. Wanna go bleed or poison? JUST GO CRIT LUL -Rage generation at bossfights. 10% chance to fucking get 1 rage by hitting a boss or rare mob. Are you fucking kidding me, game? Is 1 rage equivalent to 1 frenzy charge or what? A player is supposed to get 50 of it before the fight ends and not everyone can or wants to go warbringer but still needs to generate rage.
