Vaal skills vs elder and his guardians
I can't understand why my vaal skill souls reset when entering an elder or elder guardian area.Is it ment to be like this?I dont really think so.I can never use my vaal skills in these areas.Also why must we revive in town if we die in these areas?Not everyone has ssd you know do we really have to go thru 4 loading screens to get back?

Vaal skills does not store charges between different locations. Yes, this is intended. And, yes, this is still stupid, because it's a last thing that stay with us after vaal skills rework.

" Well, it would be broken if it did though. Just go to some non map area, fill it, come back and unleash it all, repeat untill the boss is dead ( or you are bad enough to run out of portal ). I mean, with the current power level in the game, it's likely unnecessary with most good builds anyway, but ... it could be exploited. I think that it's a design decision and not a technical "problem". SSF is not and will never be a standard for balance, it is not for people entitled to getting more without trading.

" Souls from the map do carry over into the regular boss arena though, just not into the arenas of the elder guardians and elder himself, as those are not considered part of the map. I agree with that being a bit annoying. |

Yeah, because since it's not part of the map, a new instance is created.
It might very well be a choice from GGG, to make those fights harder, same as Izaro. But I was more pointing out that the vaal skills "rework" would not have changed that behaviour since it's likely meant to be like this, and not a bug or anything like that. SSF is not and will never be a standard for balance, it is not for people entitled to getting more without trading.

" If it's ment to be like this then they are useless.So what is the point?Regular bosses die in 1 sec anyway.Guardians die fast anyway and they have 3 stages so you wouldn t be able to use them thru all 3 stages.But they don t even charge up by the 3ed stage.If it is intended it's pretty dumb. |

I think the idea was that players have to play them unbuffed. No vaal charges, no shit from headhunter, not build up buffs from bloodrage or other various bonuses from ascedancies etc. But also at the same time the guardians would not get the buffs from map mods. I have mixed feelings about it but i do think it is easier to balance them this way.

" This reason is also why I don't tend to use Vaal skills. I see them in every "good" build on the build forums, but they're not available to you when you need them most. Those gem slots are put to better use with gems you can actually use in a boss fight. You say you can gimmick your way past a boss with them, but you can do the same thing by spamming portal to refill your flasks. Answer: nerf flasks so they empty on map transition, and put portal on a 10 minute cooldown. At least be consistent. |

And even if you cant use them all the time, you can use half of the time the normal version, and the other half the vaal version making you faster. You go faster, in a game where speed is all that matter competition/economny wise, what else ?? " This has nothing to do with consistency, there is a limited number of portals per map, when you portal you go back to town (which makes it consistent to have flasks refilled), and not all bosses allow you to get charges back with adds. Plus the game is balanced around spikes of damage and the fact that anybody can log out anytime, putting a 10 mins cooldown on portals would be utterly stupid ( especially when people can without too much troubles clear maps in less than 5 minutes ).
