[3.3] 2100 Int Whispering Ice Trapper

Throw speed cleans everything up a bit. I was curious so I just hopped back onto that character and ran about 10 tier 8 maps testing a whole lot of variation between removing concentrated effect/advanced traps and adding in increased AOE and trap and mine damage.

I can't say anything was definitive. Inc aoe and advanced traps both improve clear time but add about a second to boss kill time. Most bosses don't actually move much and the Inc aoe was not increasing the number of times he was getting hit as far as I could tell

Trap and mine is a bit clunky with lower throw speed but so is conc effect with lower AOE. Advanced traps + AOE was my preferred clear but it did chug a bit on ele equilibrium map where a bit more upfront damage would have been better. This might just be a situational and personal taste thing. One of the reasons I liked WI was not needing to change gems for bosses though. At that point you might as well play a build with a clearspeed skill and a single target skill that specialises in each

I generally find that Grace is not worthwhile. I found on other characters going from 60% evade to 70% evade is not really noticeable since at that point attacks are already less of a concern then spells so I prefer to invest in things that an reduce spell impact. It kinda sucks that all big bosses are 90% spell based.

I actually only played this character for 5 days and moved onto a new one when I posted this thread in response to being asked about it. I got it to lvl 91 killed a few guardians but I had made enough currency to fund something new and there was other things I wanted to try

The character was good and there was certainly room to grow it but It felt a bit too 'fair' compared to some brokenly good stuff that came out this league. I feel like I will return to this character again though, it was smoother and more enjoyable then my past WI characters

Great work, though I've one question.

Any thoughts using Cold Snap in place of something like Bladefall in your CWDT setup. The damage isn't likely to be great with no damage supports, but the ability to assist with Frenzy Charge generation will provide a bit of a damage boost. Actually, getting in with the links with Immortal Call and Frostbomb would be best, as it would benefit the extended duration, though that necessitates a 5l in your chest.

Hey I posted a similar build in the main Shadow forum recently, though instead of CI, I decided to use the new Incursion helmet:

It adds about 1-1.5k HP with the amount of Int we stack. Thoughts?

It doesn't add HP it removes all ES and then gives you a bit of HP.

Honestly I think the item is kinda just bad. On this character I got 9k ES and 2150 INT for damage, plus normal damage nodes.

Life however doesn't scale well with Int, plus it removes the mana and mana regen so then you end up with half the life pool, lower damage and more mana problems.

That's not how it works. You go life with that helmet and you use Slavedriver's hand. You sit at around 7.5-8k life and you have Acro and Phase Acro, which is pretty amazing defensively. Downside being less damage.
