Spent $260 on Apocalypse Boxes - will never buy Boxes again

If we all thought like the above individual (who IMO has questionable affiliations and shows no monetary investment in PoE at all), PoE would still be the game it was 4 years ago. Note how the individual provided no constructive feedback about addressing the real issue or making the purchase system better (or fair) for everyone. Easier to blame the player and degrade them than address the problem. This is classic deflection and useless banter.

To reiterate, the current new MTX box approach by GGG is flawed. Here's why:

1) There is NO way to acquire the new MTX other than pure RNG; and the new MTX won't be available for individual/targeted purchase for 3-6 months. One could wait, but the inherit approach GGG is taking ensures people with funds to spend on new targeted MTX are unable to do so. It's all luck; while taking your money. One reason I'm so pissed off about this is no other game I've played has "blocked" the acquisition of new MTX purely with RNG like GGG has in PoE. This is the core of the problem.
2) The MTX boxes contain more items each release, which makes getting the items you want more difficult with each release.
3) There is no system of recycling/selling/removing (with some sort of credit) unwanted MTX. So now I have a ton of automation and wasteland garbage in my MTX that has ... no purpose whatsoever. And it also serves as a reminder of my wasted money - which just pisses me off even more when I see it.
4) GGG is putting the absolute best MTX in these boxes. Look at the content compared to the crappy supporter pack MTX. So they give mediocre MTX to the "supporters" and the best to RNGbois. Yah, that makes sense. Oh, for money grabbing it does.

PoE had numerous problems in the past where they embraced archaic mechanics and systems. The MTX approach/system is no different. I now know that the coolest MTX will only be available in the money grab boxes that I'll never buy again, and there'll be no way to individually acquire the new MTX I want for 3-6 months down the line. And now, when I see the MTX I want in town, it'll just piss me off - because as a player who has money to spend, I know it's not worth the risk of wasting that money - and there's no guaranteed way I can acquire what I want. Congrats to them on their luck!

As you can tell, I'm PISSED. I spent $260 on this game and got NOTHING of what I was looking for and had no choice but to spend that money at the chance of acquiring what I wanted. For a player who has spent well over $1,000 on PoE and supported GGG every turn since BETA, this is a BAD thing. As mentioned, I'll NEVER buy the boxes again out of bitterness and resentment because the system is so archaically stupid and it provides no means of supporting players like myself who have NO INTEREST in gambling money. Sure if people want to gamble boxes, let them. But don't block those who have no interest in RNG and want to invest in new MTX at a premium price. If I just got the wings I wanted, I would have been fine. This thread exists because there's a problem. It needs to be fixed.

The SOLUTION? Put the new awesome MTX for sale individually at the same time they are made available through the gamble boxes. Let those who have money buy them. I would have paid more than standard MTX prices just to get the wings. Do not FORCE players to gamble to get the new MTX.

With the system as it currently stands, players who spend hundreds of dollars can have nothing of what they wanted to show for it. That is a bad system, it just pisses players off, and it needs to be fixed.

In summary, forcing players to play the RNG game to have a chance at the newest MTX as the only solution is the core issue.
All that and a bag of chips!

The solution is much more simple then what you provided. I don't like lootboxes so I don't buy them. End off. Stop thinking that you can make decisions for anyone else but yourself. You gambled, you lost. Your entitled attitude is hilarious.

The OP makes the point that seems to be made quite often that people can become frustrated and feel cheated by the current system. Everyone seems to be ignoring the proposed potential solutions in the OP like some kind of system for trading away the unwanted mtx's or reducing the potential items in the box.

They already have a solution.

Just wait they will hit the normal store in 3 months, and just buy what you want
Ahhh gotta love the community here. Post frustrations, explain why, offer solutions, and get attacked left and right.

Nothing "entitled" about this. I want to spend my money to get the things I want when they are released. The current RNG box system prohibits this.

Now that I've experienced the RNG system GGG has in place for these purchases, I can confirm it's utter garbage and can result in punishing players who invest in the game by providing no value. No rational person would think that's a "good thing" and "good design". Then again, I don't gamble. I invest. I tried the boxes, and learned I'll never, ever do it again; but even more, I'm now bitter and resentful GGG is forcing this system on people if they want to participate in new MTX purchases with no alternative. I ONLY did this because there was no alternative. That won't happen again.

I've always wanted to help make PoE a better game. This post was partial rant explaining why I was so pissed off, provided the reason, and that some sort of solution/alternative should be considered by GGG.

If ya'll are fine with the best new MTX being purely RNG and designed to be a money sink solely for profit forcing those who want to make specific purchases to wait 3-6 months, with the chance of spending hundreds of dollars with nothing wanted to show for it, then have at it.

I for one will never support such a system and recommend players avoid the box purchases.

Yeah throughout the Fire & Ice and the Innocence & Sin boxes, I never was able to combine wings even after supporting top tier supporter packs. I can't help but feel like they literally want $1000 for each loot box binge from me or something. They insist on getting me duplicates of skill effects, so that I literally have no ability to use more than just a few unique visual effects. Kind of feel trolled tbh and still feel a bit butthurt that I can't gift to friends. It's why loot box MTX are surpassing the quality of most supporter pack tiers. It used to be that I would get so much I enjoy and then some, but now it's almost like they don't want me to be happy.

At this point, I would recommend that you just wait to purchase it in the MTX store, save your supporter pack points for stash pages if you haven't gotten a decent set of em yet.

i don't get how ggg planned to get satisfied customers by providing such a trap of a support system.

if you provide several options to get the same mtx, people naturally go for the cheapest one. why should they spend more than other players to eventually have the same outcome?

all these fanboi replies. I can't believe the number militant ass-kissers who support this robbery. OP spent a good chunk of money RNG should favor people after X number of boxes.

all these little kids talking like OP only lost some ex or worthless ingame currency. it's real money you brainlets

I'm sorry, but GGG is not interested in your solutions. The system is designed to extract money from people who can't control themselves, and it's doing that pretty well. Gambling can never be "fair". If lootboxes were "fair" you would have gotten your wings in like 50 bucks and stop spending there.

I'm not saying that this system is a "good thing" (its the opposite, in fact), just that its doing what's designed to do and GGG wont make it "fair". The solution is to not gamble, if you can't suffer the loss.

You've spent more than an average player in just one shopping spree... And probably many more in previous iterations of gambling boxes. Thanks for your support, you are done. :>
