Spent $260 on Apocalypse Boxes - will never buy Boxes again
I've never really purchased any true RNG feature of a game before because I'm not really a gambler. But the MTX from the Apoc boxes is some of the best I've seen, so I decided to spend $260 on the boxes ($200 purchases and the coins from the $60 pack).
I didn't get any wings, no character FX, no portal, or anything at all I was looking for. I have an abundant amount of scorpions, footprints, boots, and other useless crap though. A fine reminder of wasted money due to a poorly crafted system. I now have tons of MTX from the boxes I care nothing about; I'm $260 in the hole, have nothing of what I wanted, and have no means of accessing the best looking MTX in the game without risking more money; and I'm certainly not spending another penny to try and get it. Yes, I can wait 3-6 months to buy the MTX I want (I’m sure the wings will be $48 and perhaps on sale months later for $42 or something), but the current system can ultimately punish players who invest in the game by leaving them with nothing of what they wanted. That's a bad design. And creating Mystery Boxes with even more options just lowers the chance of getting what one wants. There is no system to get rid of all these unwanted MTX (or chance/trade them for others), and I am now forever jaded at ever purchasing a Mystery Box from PoE. As a matter of fact, I'd recommend players simply stay away from them since they're simple money sinks that can ultimately screw you and leave you broke with nothing of what you wanted. Once again; that’s a bad design. Also, I wouldn't feel so bad if GGG was still GGG, but now knowing a portion of my money goes to Tencent (don't get me wrong, I understand a good portion goes into the dev budget), this is an even bigger reason not to invest. Especially when it’s all RNG and I can’t purchase what I want. I spent over $500 on Warframe and have no regrets of any kind; I was able to buy what I wanted. But putting some of the best looking MTX in the game in these crappy boxes and leaving it up solely to RNG (or forcing players to wait 3-6 months to buy them at a later time for top dollar) ensures many of us who have the funds to invest in PoE end up empty handed, pissed off, and unwilling to spend any more money out of bitterness. Like myself. For the first time ever (and I've spent a LOT of money on PoE), I truly regret my purchases. That's not a good thing. All that and a bag of chips! Consider that $260 spent on a life lesson. You had all the possible information you could ever want, down to the individual prices and chances of each item. Yet you still took the risk. You only have yourself to blame. GGG is being as honest as they can possibly be about this.

" It is not 'poorly crafted'... it does EXACTLY as it say it does... The problem here is that you don't actually understand what the word 'random' means, and have a very limited understanding of statistics. " Wait until the items you want are released for general sale and buy them then... Instead, you chose to gamble... and are now complaining as your gamble failed. You try to blame GGG, but the entire blame is your own. " You can, once the items are released to general sale. Just a question? Were you the one who posted about this in all the previous leagues with mystery boxes as well? |

Some still expecting software can read their thoughts?

There's no even need to buy more. I'm fairly sure that statistically you've spent way beyond the expectations of the seller and your purchase exceeds the average order.
Hence the seller doesn't care how frustrated you are, and if you are going to keep on buying boxes, or not. On the other hand, next time you'll buy a supporter pack instead. And months later, when the bad feeling is gone gone, you'd spend another fair amount on boxes. And so on, money flows. This is a buff © 2016

Every single league some people have to (re)learn tha nature of gambling, ffs...
Since I don't like gambling with real money, I usually buy one (=1) box at start and then another when we get the 2x1 deal. That's 3 boxes per season and I expect nothing from it. Control your glands! (or don't, since it's impulsive people like OP that push the thing forward) When night falls

OP will also drop 5000 fusings on a 6-socket with a level 8 Vorici in his hideout...

@OP: I bet you would be first one here to praise RNGesus if you would get all you wanted within 20 boxes right :)

" they are open, but i find the odds of getting a rare closer to 10% then 20% There should be a factor in place to give increasing chance of getting a rare to combat this rng. Still it is never good to buy boxes unless you want most of the items in the box to begin with , including all rares. |

The OP makes the point that seems to be made quite often that people can become frustrated and feel cheated by the current system. Everyone seems to be ignoring the proposed potential solutions in the OP like some kind of system for trading away the unwanted mtx's or reducing the potential items in the box.
