it actually seems to be a GPU driver issue. the game tryes to change the name and location of where some fonts are stored, only fix is to both reinstall game and GPU drivers

Just closed the game and now I'm getting the same errors as before. Had been playing for hours before closing the game and trying to reopen it.

Error code: -2147024809 Will have to reinstall yet again... game and nvidia drivers. Only seemed to be happening after the new update. Tried running other D3D games and now I'm getting another error "Unable to initialize graphics system. Video Card Unsupported." Reruning the nvidia GeForce experience, it's saying it's got a new driver, suggesting the old driver (the same version installed yesterday again) is not found. Windows Device Manager now shows both my video cards (Intel HD Graphics 4600 and nVidia 880M now have issues). Reinstalling nvidia drivers... Reinstalling the nvidia drivers worked! (for me) The game is running stable for a while now. Watching GPU clock and temperature. Last edited by TheBastage#0171 on May 1, 2018, 4:47:38 PM

Same issue, i have tried reinstalling graphics drivers and Direct x 9 and 11. I had this issue about 2 days ago, and now its back. Still same issue. Would be nice if we would get a response from a Staff member addressing this issue, with an estimated wait time.

" You can't update later than the latest drivers though can you xD! |

Also started having this issue today. Worked fine yesterday/last night.. now "Font" issues on startup immediate crash.
GGG needs to get on the horn with Nvidia and figure out who is at fault here since someone spilled milk in the cookie jar. |

Just to verify again, reinstalling the NVIDIA drivers did help. Had to reinstall the drivers, reboot, use MSI Afterburner to underclock the GPU and Memory and everything's running stable now for a few hours.
I haven't been able to replicate the issue though. It seems that the driver somehow uninstalled itself. Trying to run other D3d games created errors as well. Reinstalling and rebooting seemed to help. Last edited by TheBastage#0171 on May 2, 2018, 12:42:40 PM

Same issue here.
Guys: try to launch the game via the GeForce Experience application as the other guy has recommended. That works for me, too. |

***SOLVED*** (for some)
Reinstall your NVIDIA Drivers. Either:
Spoiler
1) use the GeForce experience application in your start menu or control panel. Choose , to do a clean installation (Custom, not Express).
Spoiler
2) you can use the DDU https://www.wagnardsoft.com/ to uninstall your drivers then reinstall your drivers by downloading a fresh copy from nvidia directly.
To anyone who's getting any of the issues like we saw earlier in this thread, it seems that either POE, Windows or Nvidia is corrupting the video drivers, their registration or their settings. For others asking if it's possible to reinstall drivers when you already have the latest ones installed, in this case, yes. Opening up the GeForce experience (even if you have 397.31 (2018/4/25) installed) it seems that you will be notified that there's an update). If you don't see this, use the DDU solution above. The MSI Afterburner or overclocking/underclocking software can help with stability as well if you're getting texture crashes after the reinstall. Your mileage may vary. Good luck. Post if this does or doesn't work. |
