why is it so hard to do T4+ maps

Why not just delete your old characters instead of having to explain (over and over) that they're borked?

Use your Devoto's Helm from one of your other Bestiary characters, get a belt (like Meginord's) and a couple decent rings (steel rings if you can afford them)

I always roll my own characters and inevitably run into a wall around T11 or so (this is T4+, too, but I'm sure you didn't mean it that way) - but I hate following a guide and I have fun rerolling.

However, there's Slayer_Tip, who had a build service a while back and discontinued it because with PoB demand for it went away.
If you send him PM and explain what sort of character you have in mind, he'll work out something for/ with you.

This guy needs a whole lot less of this kind of help. He needs to learn to play the game. He's been pushed to the "end" before he's done the "beginning" and the "middle". See it all the time in my college students. They can't answer the question "What would you add to 5 in order to get x?" but they can differentiate functions, and integrate and do all sorts of stuff. Let the kid play.
you are quick to judge, Shags.
the game can be brutal for a lot of people. yes, even those who played thousands of hours.
not all of us are Mathil.

my first assumption, is this is a gear issue.
with good gear, your passive tree can be fkd up and still you'd reach reasonably high level content.

Well for one thing, most of your builds are mid level 70's. You need to work on leveling and respec some of them. There is a massive scaling difference between a build at L77 and one at L87.

Level up, grind, farm currency, respec points, get some better gear.

You are being too hard on yourself and abandon most of your builds at mid L70's You will get nowhere in the Atlas with some clunky L75 Jugg.

Be patient... level.. grind.. build up currency.

Don't give up on a L75 build that can't do T5 maps. LEVEL HIM! It makes a world of difference.

It is not difficult to get a build to L90. Once you grind and get to L85, join a leveling party. There are a ton of free ones running everyday.

Once you get a build to L90 and do some optimizing mapping will be a breeze.

TLDR: Your builds are all underlevelled and unoptimized. They can be fixed easily if you are patient and grind.

Edit: Also wanted to add something that a lot of players don't seem to understand. The Atlas, as a whole, is the end-game. I see so many get frustrated after finishing the acts thinking their builds can conquer the world and then get squashed in a graveyard map. The Atlas is on a whole different level compared to the acts. Respect the Atlas, don't rush. Grind, level, learn the mechanics and conquer it. There is no comparison between finishing the Acts and starting the Atlas. The Atlas IS the end-game.

Alot of builds come down to player experience and skill as well. I've noticed that if I haven't played a character for 2 or so days, that I die alot more. While with the same build I can do *elder* guardians without a sweat when I start in a new league and play days straight. hehe

Thing is, not everyone will like the same playstyle... I've followed build guides and absolutely hated it or simply didn't get it to work right. Simply because that is not the playing style I'm used to/comfortable with. Personally I love a more laid back playstyle: I choose a skill which playstyle I like, then I close every disadvantage gap my build might have(so I can just take on everything/bit tanky), then I make sure to do enough damage/optimize my build where possible. My builds will probably never be meta, but for me they feel and work just right. Following a build isn't a good thing to do for everyone. Right now I make my own builds, and they work for me. I do often check out buildguides for tips and tricks which might work in my builds as well though.

When you mess up a character, just start a new one... if you hit a wall, try to get around it, or build a new character and try to get around that wall. Eventually your game knowledge will grow and you will be able to figure out what will and what won't work well. Both mechanic wise as player wise.

For leveling the most important thing to keep in mind is to have max resistances, enough life or ES, and to do enough damage. When you get high enough, improve your gear and tree. I've found that when you look at your tree, you can often optimize skillspoint usage, and free up 2-3 skillpoints.

Goodluck, just keep trying!

Game becomes REALLY unforgiving once you push T11 and up. Depending on the map mods and boss fights, it's a make or break for some builds. For alot of new players they wont get the right build in their first try and he/she will learn from trial n error as usual.

After playing some unhealthy amount of game time in PoE. I learned a few things that may help you make T4+ maps seem trivial

1) Pick the right class that fits your play style
2) Layered defenses shouldn't be ignored (AR/EV, dodge, block, curses, basalt flask, taste of hate, etc)
3) Endurance charges are your friend + immortal call
4) Warding flask makes curse maps manageable
5) Higher EHP and max resistance the better
6) Avoid -max res and damage multiplier map mods if you can
7) Avoid rippy strongboxes
8) If you're having a rip streak and hit a wall, take a break.

There is nothing unforgiving in the game. There is no AI, just only few patterns and things to look at...

It is a HnS, if you are not stomping it with ok gear(like hp/2 resists) something is wrong, go on google and copy other people stuff until you can figure it out yourself, if you still wanna play after this point.
