Hey, how do you feel about taking an elder belt here instead of a shaped belt? I have an elder belt that gives +80 life/+10% life/+14% Increased Life Recovery Rate/+38% Lightning resist. I know its less dps for sure but perhaps it lets us run an additional elder/shaper item due to the extra sustain? Even without trying to squeeze in an extra shaped/elder item, perhaps it makes the degen more comfortable?

yea nice belt that one surely works, big health and regen bonus. You have to get cast speed somewhere else then tho, watch out for an amulet or rings with cast speed

Too much damage is overkill anyway, if u reach 3mio dps u can kill everything within seconds so rather go for those sustain items ;)

Thanks for being so responsive, it's very much appreciated. I had one last question for you; I notice we run Herald of Ash+Herald of Ice+Hatred, is the Hatred more effective than running Herald of Thunder instead?
We dont have any phys to lightning conversation which makes Herald of Thunder basically useless, The little light damage it does gives us nothing, we profit only from flat phys dps

meanwhile hatres gives me 30% dps boost

Added a little explanation how the damage scales, hope its understandable :p

Alright, so first of all BV does physical damage but scales with spell damage and global physical damage, it also gives 20% more damage with ailments for each blade.

Why do you highlight BV's 20% ailment damage scaling? That's completely irrelevant for your build as all it does is scale the damage of inflicted ignite and poison similar to how direct damage scales with each stack (but to a lesser degree).

Shaper of Desolation gives us every 4 seconds a different conflux which means all our damage causes that ailment, which makes it for us possible to shock/freeze/ignite and that not in small numbers, shocking almost doubles our dps.

First off, shock can never double your damage. It has a cap of 50% increased damage and increased shock effectiveness merely increases your shocks up to that cap.

Secondly, based on your PoB link you'll be shocking for at least 24% thanks to beacon of ruin. Without full shock already applied and with shaper/guardian resistances activated, you're critting for at most ~700k damage with everything up which is only going to apply a 50% shock to enemies with at most 700k / 0.1 / 1.2 = 5.83m HP. Guardians already have >12m HP so you'll basically only be applying the minimum 24% shock to guardians, shaper, red elder, etc.

This means that the shaper/guardian DPS of your PoB profile is in practice ~2.73m at its peak (2.2m without shock multiplied by 1.24). This doesn't have too much to do with elementalist or ailments either and is mostly a result of BV having good scaling with added damage (which Disintegrator has a lot of) and extra chaos damage (which Disintegrator also has a lot of) applying to each stage of the conversion, resulting in almost half your total damage actually being chaos damage.

Because of that, the build actually performs roughly the same regardless of whether you play it as elementalist, assassin, inquisitor or ascendant with each choice having some unique perks.
am i the only one to notice that PoB damage is calculated against regular mobs because "is the enemy a boss" is set to "no"? setting it to "Shaper" drops the damage by 30%

I nowhere meantioned that its shaper dps, still 5mio shaper dps is possible with better gear

I actually managed to record a vid, potato quality thought. check it out on first page
will add a shaper video later
Hey, I had one last complicated question for you.....

I was spinning this idea around in my head and I was wondering what your input on it is.

Have you considered running Liege of the Primordial instead of Shaper of Desolation? - The reason would strictly be for running 2 stone golems to counteract the degen from the Disintegrator + the flat damage buff. This potentially allows us to run more elder/shaped items which in turn = more damages. We could also run phys to lightning or conc effect instead of Hypothermia; not sure how good the efficacy would still be either. I just wasn't sure if you have tinkered with other options for this ascendancy or not, and I do not use PoB to check all of this out for myself =(. Applying these ailments to trash mobs is almost pointless since the dps is soo high that they all just insta-die anyways. It seems to me that the primary effectiveness of the ailments is only utilized against bosses and I wasn't sure which route would be better in the end.

I might totally be missing the mark with these kind of ideas and I apologize if you did a face-palm after reading this =P.

nah bro, those are good questions :D

i thought about going Liege of the Primordial too, but first of all, we dont get the bonus effect from 2 golems of the same type, means we can run only 1 stone golem which gives us on lvl 20 gem 105 life reg. That is not much, yea we could run a fire golem who buffs our damage but only minimal, also eats an additional gem slot which we desperate need while running kaoms.
With Beacon of Ruin enemies will be always chilled which enables 100% uptime of hypothermia
hypothermia is way to good to miss out, it gives us 40% more damage with no downsides, no other gem does that.

With Hrimburn gloves and a 40% Watcher's Eye there is only 10% physical damage left which makes the physical to lightning support gem basically useless
Even without Watcher's Eye we would benefit more from other support gem's, since we cant run herald of storm and dont get the 25% penetration from Mastermind of Discord

And to your trash mob thing
we dont run around with 20 blades all the time, it does matter if we need 12 blades to 1shot trash or if 4 are enough, we need to cast less and safe more time, ailments are especially good vs trash mobs because we get 100% effect of each ailment which means freeze, maximum shock effect and good ignite damage. Trash mobs can be dangerous too, especially on hard map mods.

I mean, u can try it out with ur Liege of the Primordial, remove cwdt and molten shell and add stone, fire golem.
With ur belt u benefit even more from the life reg, and there are surely some flaws in my build which can be made better, so i welcome all ur input on this :)

i would definitely recommend you to use PoB, eventho it takes some time to get used too its 100% worth it

Uploaded Shaper vid

Sry about that 1 death, but i wasnt paying attention and didnt notice i was in hitbox range of that beam :s too lazy to record another shaper fight tho
