Why was Encroaching Darkness so heavily nerfed?
" Redbeak is a Unique, but it's not hard to get. What makes it so that all Unique Maps should be so rare? It seems entirely foolish to me. Unique Maps are overall the most interesting, fun Maps to run. Why not let people enjoy that on a somewhat regular basis? Making them scarce makes it unattractive to even attempt a Unique Map - the price of failure is equal to the price of admission, and rare Maps are more expensive. Right now, Oba's is 15c+. Unless I am absolutely 100% certain I can complete it, I'd just sell it instead, because failing to complete the map effectively costs 15c. It's much easier to decide "eh, I'll just give it a go" if it's only 5c. Additionally, if Oba's is already completed, is there really sufficient incentive to run it a second time? Putting it on /trade offers a decent yield with zero risk. I'd take that safety over running it myself for probably lesser returns. The pricetag on Oba's discourages me from having a more interesting mapping experience. If you ask me, Unique Maps shouldn't be scarce, it makes them less interesting. |

This is one of the best div cards in the game, it's a shame if they really nerfed it so hard. This card made finding unique maps reasonable in SSF, and I really doubt any trader's life was ruined in the past leagues because of its common drop.
Sounds like another small reason to stay in Std, rather than regrinding the Atlast in league... When night falls

" Yeah this beast recipe meme has to go. People are talking about their cool OP recipes and how it fixes everything but really, nobody talks what are the costs and rarity. Somewhat somehow a little bit good recipes are SUPER RARE. Legitimately rarer than an exalt. Wow you can get 3 white sockets - fucking 4 albino rhoas that are like 3000 maps of grind. Wow you can get 10 random currencies - 2 Emperor's luck for 100 maps when you can get 2 sets with 2 yellow maps. And so on. " last league i nealry got the full "run unique maps" challeng in SSF from that card,so i dont think it was nerfed before. just hitting yellow maps so i cant say much about the droprates for now (couldnt play much after the weekend),but they mentioned changes to div droprates and areas in 3.2. |

"This is not true. In the Abyss league I found lots of encroaching darkness cards and was able to run many unique maps. That was the last league, and not "ages ago." I'm also disappointed if this card got nerfed in its droprate. A full set of ED cards yields one map which gets run once only and it offers a fun break from running usual maps. It doesn't produce a build enabling OP unique item. What's the rationale for a change like this? Now that prestige classes will finally leave lab in 4.0, will GGG get it right this time or will they find new ways to repeat old mistakes?

" It's an obvious trend in the new patch "adjustments" by GGG of making important things more rare. It's a not so well thought out concept to increase the player retention just like the currency nerfs that has completely backfired them. The funniest thing is that Abyss had the best retention and was alive longer than any other league, but it's not enough.
