High CPU AND GPU usage after hotfix update

Hello GGG Support-Team,
before the hotfix POE had slightly high CPU usage and normal GPU usage for me, after the hotfix my CPU usage is 75-90% and my GPU usage is 99%. I dont know what you did with the hotfix, but it completely destroyed POE for my system.

Please take another look into the HIGH USAGE OF CPU+GPU problem.

thanks.

Hey there,

Can you please send me your DxDiag and production_config.ini file please.

Let me know if you need help doing this!

same here and for most ppl, they've changed some things in 3.2

here is what you do: turn off multithreading. everything back to normal now. yea may be some hit in performance, but I prefer stability.

Yes, please let me know where to find these files and how to send them.
thanks.

This helped a bit, cpu usage is back to normal, gpu usage is sadly still higher than before the hotfix.

Also the game feels choppy without multithreading.

Hi there,

Here's a guide for creating a DxDiag report file and showing it to people.

The production_Config.ini file is located in Documents ⇒ My Games ⇒ Path of Exile.

You could save each one separately on Pastebin, then send Henry a PM with the two Pastebin links, and a link to this thread to make sure he understands what you're contacting him about. :)

@TPBA:

I think it would be beneficial to list your hardware specs and OS to:

CPU:
RAM:
GPU (Make of GPU and model #):
HD and what type used e.g. SSD/normal:
OS:

Is it laptop/gaming rig and did it start with hotfix or was present prior to this. I say this because I had input lag and micro stuttering and checking task managed to see the CPU usage and GPU usage was pretty high which unfortunately got fixed with the hotfix so I don't have the same issue atm, but if the micro stuttering was present prior to hotfixes or at launch then it could have been there awhile.

GPU high utilisation is actually relatively ok, as long as its kept to around 70-75% usage when under gaming load. Normally you would get micro stuttering if the GPU is being under utilised something in the range of 0-30% usage, its a performance hit, especially on Nvidia cards when on low gpu usage as they go into power saving and switch off fans and idle on ramping on the speed to the required gaming level.

There was also a known nvidia card issue which didn't have the card selected under the physx menu under nvidia control panel and it would cause issues last league.

Hey, I'm having the same issue as OP. I tried turning down some of the graphics settings (most of them were on medium settings before) But my GPU still experiences >90% load unless I set the game to DirectX9 or make the game look terrible with all lowest settings possible. And even then it's still around 70% or higher.

Since my PC is pretty old by now, maybe I just won't get any better performance out of PoE. Imo the medium settings look okay but not like they should use 100% of my GPU.

CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K CPU @ 3.50GHz
RAM: 8GB
GPU (Make of GPU and model #): AMD Radeon HD 7700 Series
HD and what type used e.g. SSD/normal: Samsung SSD Evo 840 250G SCSI
OS: Windows 10 Pro N

As recommended, I sent Henry_GGG a PM with my dxdiag and production_Config.ini and a link to this thread.

EDIT: I just played a bit more to test the lower settings again and noticed that in some zones or maps, the problem doesn't appear and the GPU load stays between 30% and 70%. This was the case in "The Lunaris Temple", for example. In other zones, like the Act 3 Town or "The Imperial Gardens" the GPU sits at 99% or 100% load. All of this was still using DX 11.

So it seems unlikely to be a global issue for me.

I just got this issue, but it is strange, the game was working fine and it just started dropping to sub 20 frames in the middle of a map.

After restarting the game, I now get 100% GPU usage even on the logon screen and ridiculously low frames
game was working fine in the morning for me , then in the afternoon i got this problem too !

Using all my GPU and cpu , very laggy and cannot play at all !

Please help !
