Is it me or is spectral shield throw really underwhelming

Fixing one broken mechanic by exploiting another broken mechanic... that's fucking great.
I was trying to use SST with mines, but for any reason it doesnt work with mines. SST is no Melee and therefore dont benefit from strength, also there are no damage passives for this skill in Marauder area. Only passives that work are physical from Shadow. Even Sunder works with Meleedamage/Strength nodes and it has better coverage and skaling than SST.

Maxlevel base damage with 2k Armor/Evasion shield is around 663 while AOE does 25% less damage.

That are 1087 raw dps at level 20.
I'm using this skill with Curse on Hit + Vulnerabily, and I'm kinda enjoying it...

its a projectile and an attack, so all projectile and attack nodes scale, if you take iron grip then strength scales it.

If you have a more savage shaper offhand that tree goes over 400k, I have a sceptre that would give me 375k but it doesnt have attack speed and I like the faster shield charge and the extra bit of crit chance.



I feel like the skill could rly do with a bit of a buff, I think what Id like to see is the amount of shards from the explosion doubled so thats its actually got some workable aoe capability, cause almost all of them miss almost all of the time.


Looks pretty viable, though that took some serious legacy gear to achieve. I did attempt to put together an assassin build (non-legacy), but failed to hit the critical 95% crit without seriously impairing tank. The problem was that I found SST needed both a large number of DPS nodes and crit damage nodes to be anywhere near effective, thus sacrificing any ability to survive a few hits.

not sure if someone posted it already, but the best you can do in terms of dmg is pair the good shield with shaper/elder statstick.. cause you dont need the weapon stats, you just want that extra phys as fire/cold/lightning

If you could lmp/gmp the initial shield throw it probably won't be as bad as it is right now.

Tectonic seems to be be usable, but don't expect more, than 200k shaper dps out of it without expensive flasks and enchants.

For clearing trash it is definitely an option and then molten strike for bosses most likely.

Altho I don't think it is fair, that multistrike consumes 3 endurance charges why on flicker it only uses 1 charge, it just doesn't make sense.

Well worst case scenario is I'm going to play cleave.

The main difference with this skill is, that it has elemental conversion, so you can focus on fire with 100% of your resources and maybe make some stuff out of it?

RT is not the problem most the time, it's crit and multy being fucking hard to get on melee builds, like for real I can get like around 30% crit with a marauder and 300% multy, that's not enough for shit, bottom line for crit builds is 50% without flask and 400% multy.

And then there's the nerfed abyssus, which I would quite frankly use if they would have halved the inc dmg taken on it as well not just the crit.

SST is the worst piece of crap ive ever tried in this game, and ive played alot of leagues and played alot of builds... And this skill was the only thing that got me interested to come back for the league.. guess im out

lvl 57 Jugg here, having a lot of fun with full phys / bleed.
Act 2-5 was a bit painful on bosses tho.
