How does dual wielding work?
I do the same damage if I have an axe and a sword equipped with swords node damage than if I had two swords equipped. This is with the same damage pDPS on all weapons. Logically the nodes should apply to both swords so i should do more damage with both swords. Why is this?

" There are multiple possible answers for this question. The main ones that come to my mind can probably be answered if you can give me the following further information: Which skill are you using ?(Some skills have weapon restrictions/usage restrictions) How do the dmg/as/acc/crit of the weapons compare to each other ? (It might be that the higher "effective" dps of the axe are roughly equalized by the sword nodes) edit: made one of the question more precise/closer to my intended meaning The Bestiary league proved once and for all, that GGG only listens to crying instead of well thought out criticism. " Read the skill gems very carefully and read the nodes on the tree very carefully. Most melee gems use main hand weapon as the attack but can benefit from certain things on the secondary weapon. Things like ''Global'' ...blank whatever.. and ''ADDS'' varieties of damage to an attack ect get calculated in. Secondary weapons typically compliment the main hand weapon rather than alternate. Dual strike is an example that uses both. Many secondary weapons are simply used as a stat-stick. |

" Its rather the opposite, most attack skills alternate the weapon used, as long no weapon restriction applies. The only main-attack skills which only use the mainhand are: Sunder, Grundslam, Ice Crash and DoubleStrike. Cleave and Dualstrike will use both weapons at the same time (Cleave @60% weapondmg, this reduction apparently also applies if cleave can't be used with the second weapon) Every other main-attack skill will alternate, as long as both weapons can be used. Reave can't be used with Axes, is why. With the axe equipped, you only swing the sword.

" Well than it is simple. Reave can't use axes. So it will only use the Sword as a calculation basis. Because it normally alternates weapons you won't see a difference in dps if you use 2 equivalent swords or a sword and an axe (even though this might change if you were to skill Ambidexterity). I recommend you to use a stat-stick if you want to use reave. Either a cheap shaper mace later on or a Death's Hand mace, which will probably be cheaper.
