Dear animal lovers.
" You seriously think they lack the capacity to do this for fun with no regard for keeping their senses and hunting ability in top form? My dog loves to chase balls and pick up and move shit. All for the hunt amirite? Quick reminder a cat can just leave corpses to rot or present them to you with no intent on eating them in the slightest. I find it laughable you cannot fathom the notion that an animal can be joyful or have fun while they hunt or kill with no intent to eat, protect or enhance their ability. Keeping itself happy and fulfilled in it's little animal life. Peace, -Boem- Check out some articles on the topic. It isnt hard. " But normally after you put them in a pokeball they become your friends.... With these monsters, you put them in a pokeball not to save them but to *kill them later*.... (I love pokemon and this league will be super fun) |

" All good, i simply don't infer the notion of "fun" like we utilize it on them. I think animals in general have two states, comfort and discomfort and i include humans in that. An "evil kill" if i contemplate it is a kill that doesn't contribute to comfort and in essence is pointless/meaningless. I don't really think nature does "meaningless" since it pragmatically eradicates inefficient things with evolution. That cat, bringing a death mouse to your feet has been condition by human for years on end that he gets a reward for keeping the barn clean of rodents. There is nothing pointless or evil in his actions, it's also not done out of "fun". A dog doesn't go and pick up a stick for you because it's "fun". He also doesn't keep his territory safe or guards it because it's "fun". Peace, -Boem- edit : domesticated animals seem like a poor example to begin with, out of every 10 dogs i've seen in my live i think around two of them are raised properly and can actually indulge in their nature. The other 8 are generally fucked up animals without direction and clueless/frustrated. Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes Last edited by Boem#2861 on Feb 28, 2018, 2:51:30 PM

Boem has an easy time typing and a hard time reading it seems.
I left you a link. There are plenty of examples. Animals have fun. They can also kill frivolously. Not everything an animal does is some perfectly calculated instinctual drive. I take it youve never lived with many animals. Especially around wild animals. Ffs scientists dont even know why animals have "fun". Boem knows all tho, lmao. I'll take the word of the experts over a rando POE player. Peace, -Boem- Last edited by Morgasming#5388 on Feb 28, 2018, 2:52:48 PM

" Are you aware that some people have difficulties playing the game because of spiders? Some people can't play a character that is of different gender than themselves. And this forum is the first time I've heard of trypophobia. Obviously people's perceptions from real life translate into games. And those who have problems with the idea of caging and sacrificing animals, will have problems fully enjoying bestiary, because their morals "leak" into the game. Why is Bestiary slightly different from what we were playing up to now - because it introduces a Zoo and ritual sacrifice. Do you think someone would be offended, if say, instead of animals, we would cage corrupted wraeclastian aborigines and sell them to "Dr. Mengele" for exalts? I think many would be pissed, because of the added implications of such gameplay - even tho we already kill millions of human enemies in the game. When night falls

" That and my IRL example of that asshole cat. I think boem tries to give a new definition to the word fun. Bye bye desync!

Well I'd have a menagerie full of quadra-boobed hookers and tentacle monsters but apparently that's frowned upon in Wraeclastian society :(
I've really got no issue with the whole "cage-and-kill" aspect of the upcoming. You know though, this reminds me of when Age of Conan came out. There was that dungeon/prison area near the beginning with the guard dogs in it... I could kill those a-hole guards all day but the dogs I went out of my way to avoid. In that instance I think it was more due to the sound effects though, sure it was in "self defense" but they had way too realistic sound effects for hitting a dog with a freaking hammer, and it always creeped me out/made me feel awful. |
