GGG have ... reluctantly agreed that, yes, it is ok, but icky, to use AHK to have shift pressed while casting that spell. See the macros thread for the reference, but it would be an acceptable use of AHK to achieve that.

Plus, it isn't "automated keypresses" that is the issue, it is that you need one physical input per "server" action; this lives with that, in that you have one physical event ("press key"), and one server action ("cast in place spell X")
