What's with Orb of anulment?
" I could see a case for making it a bit more common because it can almost totally destroy a good item if the annul lands on the best wanted mod. And since people are more risk-averse or otherwise tend to quantify losses as more prominent than gains even if the magnitude is absolutely equal, using an annul is more nerve-wracking than using an exalt. The reward for an annul hitting the correct affix is you now get to either roll on that affix or often more likely just add a master mod instead. Risk of annul is it bricks the item because it took away something. Risk of an exalt though? It adds something blah to something that might otherwise be amazing. So if the risk of using an annul is bigger than with an exalt and the reward is, on average, smaller, then why is it more rare? Granted, I'm likely missing some factors in that assessment, but if it ends up that the risk of an annul is still greater than an exalt but the reward does not factor in both the rarity and the risk, then it being rarer than an exalt doesn't really make sense. |
