Rested experience?
|
From a more casual perspective I believe that rested experience is a good idea to help introduce players into the game. The idea of a player logging out for a decent amount of time and then rewarded for coming back to play I believe would keep people coming back. I don't think that the start of the game is hard at all to level and I like it where it is but just a little experience bonus could definitely keep the attention span of a lot of players. Although this at really high levels could be detrimental to the idea of a level grind so maybe a decay type of system so that if you get to the 80s you will get very little or no bonus for rested experiences

I haven't leveled high enough, yet, to notice a marked grind increase, but I'm actually against rested experience. Considering the type of game it is (Free2Play), they'll most likely have some things you can purchase that will increase your experience gain.

That is a good idea to generally increase revenue but the dev's have stated in various interviews that when you buy something it will only be a cosmetic change nothing that will give players any type of advantage.

" Ack, for the policies of GGG a buyable exp gain must be a no-go. But if you cant "buy" exp, why the hell should you get exp for doing nothing at all (resting)?! Beside this, what (beside the stat points) is your profit in the game if you dont get gear and dont move forwards on your way? (if you be very patient, you could reach level 100 without ever leaving the first camp...LOL) invited by timer @ 10.12.2011

I don't think you should be rewarded for not playing.

" I would have to agree with this. Being given a leveling advantage for not playing is obsurd. Even though it's a dumb idea, i'd rather see you get rewarded for playing X amount of hours in a row. That would make more sense. |

No, As it is at the moment you will level relatively easily to merciless and by the time you clear merciless you will be at or around 60 where you should be.
All adding rested will do is out level you for the areas you need to do reducing you drops making it harder to level through the next difficulty...then there's the end game which destroys the accomplishment of extremely high level by making it easier to reach the same level with less play time. I too at first thought "why reward the player for not playing?", but then I thought about it a bit more, and realized why games like WoW do it.
Essentially it isn't a "reward". I mean, someone who plays for 2 days will obviously get faaarr more experience than someone who takes a break for one day and plays for the other. There;s no "reward" here, its more a case of boosting the more casual gamer who doesn't have the time to dedicate to the game. If you only have the time to play an hour a night, then after a month of playing how much of the game will you have seen? Basically nothing noteworthy. These players need to receive some kind of speed boost to at least allow them to experience a little more of the content than they otherwise would have, otherwise the experience gets stale and old, and they move onto games which change at a faster pace. Yes, we can all say "bah humbug! casual gamers! ruzm fuzm!", but lets get real. These players aren't going to be bumping toes with the best just because of this relatively miniscule boost. It will just move them along through the game so they can see more content. Sounds good to me. This boost shouldn't apply to hardcore though. Players shouldn't be able to boost past zones there. The experience decay for killing lower level mobs should also apply more harshly to this boosted XP state, so as to prevent rapid outleveling. Last edited by Imbalanxd#0300 on Jan 2, 2013, 4:58:27 AM
