Shower-thought Koam's Heart is now the new CI

But the difference is that with kaom's you need a 6-linked weapon (if you want a 6L, that is), so it is a little more restrictive than a 1k es chest with 6 links.

Kaom's heart is also quite rare and expensive so most builds don't use that anyway.

Those days are gone.

Also, price and rarity maybe means that most players will not get a Kaom's.
But it doesn't mean most builds shouldn't, if they could afford it.

Koam's heart has been reduced to 350 life. All life nodes reduced by 1%.

Sounds like an Activision Blizzard fix

Blizzard don't fix, They just overnerf. half of the time, they just nerf the top spec which is doing well, rather than buff the underdogs so that they can compete.

Same thing GGG does, time and time again

The sad thing about Kaom's (and Belly, for that matter), is that they show us that life trumps mitigation in 8 out of 10 scenarios.

wrong way to think about it, it shows that a large boost in health is better than a small boost in mitigation. Chest pieces can't get enough of a given stat to actually majorly influence your mitigation anyway. My jugg might lose 6k armour by wearing a kaoms over a 2k astral plate but 500hp is like 3-4 good items worth of life so I can immediately compensate on any other piece of gear for the lost mitigation.

This isn't helped by the power of flasks and the general unpopularity of armour as a defence stat unless it is stacked excessively. I certainly use endurance charges, basalt and granite to achieve 90% against regular trash very easily and for far less investment.

I also don't really think its 8/10 scenarios, i think its more like 9.9/10. If you calculated the breakpoints the extra health is going to come out ahead in almost every circumstance except for edge cases like jugg with double chest armour node going from a brass dome to kaoms.

The same thing is represented by the plethora of people who end up doing higher maps wearing a tabula, giving up the stats on a chestpiece for a 6l is considered a worthy investment thats easily stomached.
isn't a shower thought meant to be some deep/subtle truth that isn't patently obvious to absolutely everyone?

It seems to me you're looking at it in the same way. What I meant by mitigation, was no matter what mitigating mechanic they throw on a piece of armor, a huge life base would trump it. They even tried hard with A Perfect Form, throwing in both 30% spell dodge and free Arctic Armor. Still, life, life, life. The only one that came close, was legacy Lightning Coil, and they nerfed the hell out of that one.

The thing is, when life is so powerful versus mitigation mechanics, you can wonder: Is Belly/Kaom's too powerful, or are all the other uniques too bad? Because when there really isn't a choice, something is wrong.

Really! I thought GGG was secretly owned by Hasbro (the owner of NERF products) and you're saying Blizzard is too. That's sad.

I'm not sure why Hasbro isn't selling any Path of Exile NERF toys... at least a NERF hammer would be logical.  :)
