Ancestral Call makes melee finally feel good to play

It makes Glacial Hammer feel like a decent clearing skill (at least during acts).
Glacial. Hammer. Ancestral Call is going to have a skill combo that gets both Ancestral Call and that gem nerfed to unusability, putting Melee back to the state it was before. Calling it now. |

Spoiler alert: it doesn't make melee feel good to play. It turns melee skills into ranged skills, which feel good to play.
Actual melee still feels like ass. Nothing has changed there. |

" *cough cough* Molten Strike is absurd with it. Wouldn't be surprised to see that get changed at some point. Combat is simple.

everything works fine when leveling
Ancestral Call is a Multistrike in disguise. you get the same 2 extra swings, extra swings auto-aim behaviour with both. there are the same number of hits in a given time frame. there is very, very little effective difference between these two take your standard character and try it out in a content that matters - Multistrike AND Ancestral Call looks great, but it is not a realistic option - just like LMP + GMP is not for arrows. you get many arrows but no damage. and Multistrike works vs bosses, Ancestral Call requres you to 'shift-attack' ground to get 2/3 dps. about single target skills - like Dual Strike. I'm testing it out right now - slayer, lvl90, Wings of Entropy (budget option), 6 link, threshold jewel it is hot gargabe. sunder on a 5 link is way better ps. ive made a moltenstrike + multistrike duelist like 2 years ago. and even then clear speed of that build had been called 'garbage'. and i did not protest - it was. multistrike is better on single targets, ancestral call is better for more coverage.
however the combination that really work are those melee skills with secondary components so,things like frostblades, lightning strike and of course molten strike in case where you don't have overlap you have a clearing monster via projectiles. (frostblades). and you have a single target monster in ms provided you get adds around the target |

"Not sure I agree. Multi-strike doesn't extend the range of the attack, it just rotates the direction of it. Ancestral Call will hit enemies behind the one you're targeting, effectively extending your AoE. "Sounds about right. Skills whose only purpose is to do single target damage and nothing more are never going to be good in any version of PoE, but skills with secondary effects benefit from Ancestral Call existing. |

take your chars into standard and high maps - and try again. everything works while leveling. been trying AC vs MS vs AC+MS for last two days and AC is MS but with worse single target
and ofc skills like Dual Strike are just thrash. with or without. 4L sunder beats 6L +slayer+jewel Dual Strike even in single target departmen. it is just pathetic |

Now if those single target namelocking melee would have been BUFFED "up to snuff", and would output "MOAR" damage comparing to Sunder/Blade Flurry etc. things would be a lot different, and those "obsolete" options would make sense... And no Dual Strike feels a lot better in a 6L (as long as you have the regular "moar" multipliers) + threshold jewel against >tier 10 bosses versus Sunder in a 4L (for sure with a RT character and no "cheat" for Sunder), should be the case even with WoE... PSS: Our almighty TencentGGG overlords are very scrupulous regarding criticizing their abilities to take proper decisions and consider everything "needlessly harsh and condescending"...

damage is better on dual strike - but i can kite with sunder, waves can pass certain obstacles making bosses harmless etc
if in HC i would not pick Dual Strike for anything, ever. |
