PLEASE give us an offline only mode for people without internet!

Same issue I have with Elite dangerous. I'm a paramedic and routinely go long stretches sitting in my ambulance with no access to any internet at all (we are set at a location and not allowed to move, so there's no just popping over to the local starbucks and leeching wifi)

It's just asinine to demand all players be online at all times. I know that of course offline characters must be walled off completely from online players (Because cheating) but I just want to be able to play the game in super-casual mode when I'm not able to go online. Same for when comcast just drops dead. I hate how every single game nowadays just insists I be online. I have to play torchlight (which I really don't like the feel of) or go back to diablo 2 if I want an offline dungeon crawler. Elite Dangerous removed their single player mode, so I basically had to quit that game outright, as I only ever played it at work (as a full price game that pissed me off more than anything else)

It can't be that hard to put into the game. Hell, charge $10 as a one time fee for it. I'd happily pay. It would also be nice to know that I could play this game long after developers abandon it.

Of course there will be people calling me an idiot for suggesting anything, but consider this a simple opinion from a paying customer.

Cant say anything against poe getting an offline version other than they couldnt make as much money on it.

BUT

I would suggest Grim Dawn as a great offline arpg that might just scratch that itch. Not telling you to get out of here with that talk....but just informing you of a very decent option you might not know about.

D2 was great, and i might even suggest the DiabloHD mod that gives diablo 1 many diablo 2 luxeries like skilltree/gear....plus new sets and uniques to play with. Def worth checking out.

Yes it would be nice if poe had what you wanted, but you should check out those options as they exist now, and might meet your needs.
How dare you suggest Offline mode on a online MP game where 99% of people play solo.
PoE was built from the very start to be online-only. They won't change it. The request to give it offline capability has been going on since it was first announced.

Thanks for the info on the diablo HD mod, looking into it now. As for Grim Dawn, I recall seeing it on Totalbiscuit's channel and seeing that it wasn't really loot based to the extent that I like my dungeon crawlers. I think a well crafted loot system is the main draw for me to these types of games (weirdly enough, PoE sticking with the items taking up relatively huge amounts of inventory space was a big draw. I hate the item management in D3, they're all tiny ass icons that have no presence, so I just don't care about them.)

I don't see why they couldn't just charge money for the ability to play solo offline. $10 would get a lot of people to buy in, and it couldn't cost them much to implement.

and you know that from?
aren't lots of generation and calculations done server wise to avoid cheating and stuff like that? So they would rework the game from scratch basically or itwould require to emulate local server :)

Offline ARPG might be a nice suggestion as a new project for GiGiGi, but i doubt that model is compatible with Free2Play

3.13 was the golden age.
A "sandbox" version of PoE when the game is considered "completed" by GGG, working offline and, I don't even dare thinking about it - be moddable - would be worth the price of a full blown AAA title, heck, I would (hopefully WILL actually) fork a 100$ no but's and no questions asked.

Just so I could test for myself the "perfect PoE experience" delay free, with 0 connection problems, and without drops centered around trade, but mainly around difficulty...

It is a long time dream. Hopefully, will get a reality sooner rather than later...

I guess I should have been more specific because of course people don't think about what others may be meaning.

I meant relatively. The game is complete, all assets are in place, Converting it to be offline only would involve changes to netcode requests, storage methods and a small GUI tweak. RELATIVELY speaking, a lot less work than rewriting a whole game.

grim dawn has a pretty intense loot system tbh, its far more complex than a game like say diablo 3, probably more complexity and depth than torchlight 2. I dunno, gd players out there would u say grim dawns loot system rivals poes? I mean Ive seen people say its a better loot system, I dunno if Id go that far but theres definitely a massive amount of mods, you got trash, magic, rare, unique and legendary tiers. the usual life, core stats in both flat and % forms, 5 primary and 5 secondary resists I believe? cooldown modifiers, % damages, flat damages, crit, attack/cast speed, move speed, minion stuff, leeches, + to skills type mods, offence and defence rating I believe? regens of mana and life, retaliations etc, so much stuff.

Retaliations are actually pretty legit in that game, u can pack a punch with thorns. On the database for example theres 1000 prefixes for hats, with 600 suffixes. Most of them are bunched too, like 1 rare prefix may have 8 different mods, so ur getting 1 prefix and 1 suffix but the prefix is a group of 6 mods and the suffix might have 6 mods. Mods on rares etc can include skills built into the item the way whispering ice has, but on almost any slot it seems, both active skills and aura type things.

You then got a component system where u put together components from pieces which give a set of mods kind of like the jewel system in poe, u might get 2, 3, 4 mods on one of these, and u then apply them to items like a lab enchant. you can put one of these on every item slot. Some of these also come with active skills, mana reserve auras, retaliations basically like a cwdt type skill attached to the enchant that also has 2 forms of flat added damage, a % added damage and a physical to elemental % conversion and youre applying this to a 10 mod rare weapon that also has its own active or passive skill that comes with it.

example of a prefix on a rare mace:

54 Electrocute Damage over 3 Seconds
+50% Lightning Damage
+15% Stun Duration
+50% Electrocute Damage with +50% Increased Duration
15% Physical Damage converted to Lightning Damage
+56 Offensive Ability

Granted Skills
Lightning Bolt (20% Chance when Hit)
A pure bolt of lightning strikes your target.
2.5 Second Skill Recharge
1 Meter Target Area
6-44 Lightning Damage
12 Electrocute Damage over 2 Seconds
Stun target for 0.5 - 1 Seconds

example of a suffix:

12-20 Fire Damage
10% Chance of 420 Burn Damage over 3 Seconds
+5% Crit Damage
+76% Fire Damage
+76% Burn Damage
+2 to Fire Strike

example of the mods on an enchant you can then add to a weapon

5% of Attack Damage converted to Health
18 Vitality Decay over 3 Seconds
+18% Vitality Damage
+18% Vitality Decay
10% Physical Damage converted to Vitality Damage

Granted Skills
Blooddrinker (Granted by Item)
Empower your attacks with vampiric energy.
50 Energy Cost
26 Second Skill Recharge
8 Second Duration
20% of Attack Damage converted to Health
25% Chance of 162 Bleeding Damage over 3 Seconds

Youve then got a d2-ish type skill system and then a poe skill treeish type star chart system of other passive buffs that also come with skills and triggers etc you can attach to your other skills in a kind of cast when channeling/cast on kill/cast on crit type affairs.

Grim dawn has definitely got some stuff going on, if its less complex than poe then its not by a great deal and its definitely the second most complex arpg Ive seen in terms of items and skills.
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)
