Wondering if i should just take 3 months off or currency flip in standard until the following league..

Abyss looks rather boring compared to Legacy, breach or even harb... the Turmoil race was awesome TBH and would love a league like that or even a SSF turmoil league off to the side, self contained and not able to be merged with even std i wouldnt mind.

I am sure i am not alone in this opinion but still may not be the majority here but when i look at a league like abyss all i see is a marginal % change to the core game, which has been done with patches prior

Yep NOT the Majority, Can't wait for Abyss!

Permanent is boring & economy sucks. Only reason people like me play is for Leagues that gives a restart with new/modified mechanics.
SSF since ~OB
Looks boring? whaat? its basically breach 2.0 with loot chest in the end. Well i quess there will allways be people who are not satisfied.

from the video, density is considerably less, no new currency, fragments etc, you get some new uniques and jewels but that's no different than the inclusion of supporter uniques done with patches many times before

boss encounter frequency being quoted as "very rare"... sounds like more trash mobs that could have been supplemented with map modifiers increasing pack size in standard... this is of course too early to say based upon the one video but breaches were unquestionably fun and i doubt this abyss addition is substantial enough to even compare it to breach
I got a fever and the only prescription, is more cowbell!

Thanks gods no new fragments. My wrist is still broken.

on topic, historically all leagues that accompanied an expansion were... lacking and seeing how WFTA is a pretty major overhaul of the atlas I would imagine that yes, abyss may not raise to the standard of legacy.

Then again, no league will because legacy was a swan song of the 2.x era and it effectively encompassed 6+ leagues worth of content and all that legacy jazz.

At least it won't have any sharts. shards.

Personally I'll do what I always do and play the damn league till it bleeds. Standard? Please.

It's all relevant I suppose. And also, based on years of browsing this forum, I've realised people will never be happy.

To me this league looks AMAZING. More endgame options, bunch of options to build new characters with new items, more bosses, and those map abyss things look almost like breaches as well.

I love the way it looks!

I care more about the diversity and power of the abyssal jewels and abyssal unique than the league mechanic itself. Based on the reveal so far abyss league looks like a lot of babysitting and waiting.

We have to come to term that breach league was a stroke of genius GGG will likely never top. Where else has GGG ever to manage to combine combat tension with risk and reward for even a moment.

valid point, if the guardians or shaper dropped uniques or had a low probability chance to drop a HH like unique a point could be made there for risk vs reward but that portion of the game is not essential for players who farm anyways since there is little payoff.

same will go for abyss based upon the information we have for now. Legacy league and turmoil mechanics were fun and diverse that those leagues were also different enough from standard to keep us entertained and willing to level a whole new character in a new economy.

abyss jewels blah, not OP enough and abyss uniques are no different then supporter uniques coming out every other patch imo

Dude, what are you even talking about?

You yourself state that you're looking for OP items. You're being a bit too obvious there that you only care to play 1 build that slices through everything in 1hit, then 2 weeks later say that league is dead coz there's nothing to do :D

Also, guardians and shaper don't drop uniques? Now you're just looking for things to complain about, and you're not even being smart about it:
Silvertongue was a widely popular bow when it came out, and later as well
I've seen at least a few builds hovering around forums with that phoenix sword
The scourge was probably the most sought after unique for 2 leagues
And if I have to tell you about shaper uniques, then you clearly have 0 understanding of the game

Your complaints have no arguments, just "this league feels bad", whatever that means.

In reality, bunch of new items, new mechanics, 30 new maps, entire atlas reworked, the whole mapping process reworked so you don't run 1600 shaped forests anymore for that 1 item that you mentioned as well. When you have the exact same goal of 1 item in every league, you will certainly get bored of the game quickly.

League looks fine.
The fact that boss encounters are entirely randomized doesn't sit very well with me but i'm willing to wait and see just how rare they are.
If by "rare" GGG means, say, 1 in every 30 maps - it's fine, if it's 1 in every 300 maps, then i'm gonna complain about it.
I think you should base your 3 month decision on a 5 second video, yeah.
I don't really care about league mechanics just the new skills are unique items that come with them. I enjoy experimenting with new stuff. No league has excited me much but at least the theme of this seems interesting to me. If you just play PoE for a league I feel you don't really like the core mechanics of PoE.
